Micronations menu #2

So, now that you're all comfortably settled in and having heaps of fun importing files manually, time for some more voting. Gee, I do a lot of this, don't I? This time it's the "Micronations" menu on the side, just like the vote that's happened previously at MicroWiki:Micronations menu. Except with a difference - this time round there's only five micronations. Basically, choose five micronations' articles which you want to attract visitors to. Why another round of this? Because it's two months on and umm... well to be honest, I have nothing better to do other than import files. Boring. Hence this. So, choose five currently active micronations. The criteria is up to you, whether they're just your fave nations or they have the best written articles. The choice is yours. Remember, five. And the ones that get the most votes should be up on the menu soon enough. Depending on how impatient I get, you have until 00:00 on Sunday, November 14, 2010 (UTC). Yes, you can nominate your own article.  aldy@wiki:~$ _  05:43, 9 November 2010 (EST)

Voting

Eh w/e I'm happy with the status quo :P Fishy 06:00, 9 November 2010 (EST)

I think it would be best to leave it how it is already. Things haven't changed much since the last decision anyway. :) Kyng Fyrst 18:00, 9 November 2010 (EST)

Okay then, two admins prefer keeping it as it is. =P Voting closed and moved to archives.  aldy@wiki:~$ _  20:14, 9 November 2010 (EST)

Merge?

I'm thinking about merging The Danburnian Article with all the horrible article pages. They're short, annoying and have pissing me of since the first time I looked on the list of uncategorized pages. They don't really deserve their own pages, and should in my opinion be on the main page. I've prepared a pretty good way of doing this. However, if not sure if I'm allowed to, or if there is something I don't know about. Any insight on this, admins and others? Anton 15:00, 13 November 2010 (EST)

Well, Fishy and myself began moving such articles to MicroCommons and I succesfully copied over all of the St.Charlian Observer (he was copying over something or other). But then we kinda had a break because it was immensely boring and we never got around to doing it again. So, instead of moving it to one article, I suggest simply copying all the pictures and any associated text to MicroCommons. Have fun. =P  aldy@wiki:~$ _  17:45, 13 November 2010 (EST)
Hm, not sure if I can do that actually. I don't know about Wikia, but on this wiki I can't seem to upload images - and on the old wiki, the images - with one exception - doesn't show up. Anton 18:48, 13 November 2010 (EST)

We're moving (for a third time)

Yep, that's right. Of course, once you hear me out, you'll hopefully be celebrating. Because...we've found ourselves an awesome place to hang out. The MicroWiki Internet Committee has been set up by Pierre d'Égtavie and the site's now been created now that we have funds. Domain name is to be decided, but we're temporarily just using microwiki.co.cc. Yes, go over there and register, it's not hard. You'll have to do it eventually anyway. Why are we doing this? Because this is being hosted on a private server paid for by the MWIC (can I abbreviate it like that?).

Huge advantages to this. We have control everything about the wiki and hopefully we can import the complete revision history of both Wikia and Referata. The package includes unlimited storage space and unlimited bandwidth while Egtavia's never had a problem with it so far. There's free unlimited subdomains "to give away to interested micronations" *eyes one* plus no adverts. Disadvantages are minor, namely that we have to reupload all the files (something we've had to do anyway) and that there's money involved. Not a lot though, only to pay for the host, amounting to a dollar a month or something, plus the annual amount (a few dollars) for the domain. Donations are welcome.

Unfortunately, Referata doesn't offer database dumps and I'm off on a camp for the next two days, so unfortunately you won't be able to export and import all the pages. It takes too long to explain but if an admin wants to try, good on you. Yes, admins are the only ones who can import XML. What does this mean? It means that the wiki will be more or less empty until Tuesday. Oh well, do without it. By all means copy over pages that you want, or you can just wait here and edit these ones. Your choice really. For now, all you can really do is discuss over the domain name. Which is something important I suppose. =P

tl;dr - Register at microwiki.co.cc and nominate domain names on the Community portal.

Let me get this straight - Will all articles be able to be copied over like from Wikia to Referata? Regardless, I support this. Anton 15:33, 14 November 2010 (EST)
So wait referta was just a temporary. okay fine with me.A mad machine 20:06, 15 November 2010 (EST)
And...I'm back. Yes, I'll start exporting things but because I'm not an admin on the new wiki yet (looks at admins over there), I can't import anything. Hmph. Don't blame me.  aldy@wiki:~$ _  00:13, 16 November 2010 (EST)
And I've exported everything now, just waiting for me to be allowed to import it...  aldy@wiki:~$ _  01:31, 16 November 2010 (EST)
Imported everything. Completely. You can all move over now. =D  aldy@wiki:~$ _  04:55, 16 November 2010 (EST)

Please elaborate
