The Move Over

So, we're attempting to move over. Obviously, the most important thing right now is getting the database dump to work. A database dump has been requested and we're waiting for it to appear. I've also asked the tech support if they can assist with moving the wiki over and we're waiting for a response. So right now, there's nothing more we can do but merely wait. Hence, to other administrative things. Speaking of which, the first thing that should be discussed is...

Administrators

On the old Wikia, there were a few admins, but the only ones who still went on MicroWiki on a regular basis were:

  • A-One (Philip Fish)
  • Cajak (Alexander Reinhardt)
  • Joefoxon (Joe Foxon)

Of these, only two actually did their job on an active basis, namely A-One and Cajak. So, now is the time to ask - who should be the administrators of the new MicroWiki?

Fishy (formerly A-One) and Cajak have both been given admin rights on ShoutWiki (SW) with Cajak given bureaucrat rights as well (the ability to appoint others as admins and bureaucrats and remove others from admins, but not bureaucrats) as per Wikia. Friedebarth (Eleytheria/Danforth/Frederic/Sebastiano) has also been given temporary adminship to assist with the database dump and transferring of articles. I, as the creator of this new MW, have admin, bureaucrat and steward rights (ability to appoint and remove admins and bureaucrats). Due to the moving over, the list of admins has changed. People that haven't created an account on here can hardly be made admins - inactive admins on Wikia won't bother moving over and doing their job on SW.

So, what does the community want regarding this? There are a few options:

  1. All old admins on Wikia become admins on here meaning Friedebarth and I have our admin rights revoked (I can't remove or change Stewards though) and no elections take place - In my opinion a bad idea as there'll most likely only be three admins on here
  2. Fishy and Cajak stay as admins, new elections take place (for 2 further admins)
  3. Same as above except that Joefoxon also stays on
  4. Same as above except that I also stay on as admin
  5. Ditto with Friedebarth
  6. Completely new elections with new nominations for all admin positions and a quota set - I don't know why anyone would choose this, takes way too long and is too inconvenient
  7. I, and/or Friedebarth, stay on for a month or two as temporary admins after which the community votes on if they want to keep one or both of us on - Suggested by Sebastiano, probably the easiest option
  8. The above with all old admins kept
  9. Or with just Fishy and Cajak

So, the choice is yours...

My Home

Yes, unfortunately it doesn't exist on here, so you'll have to use RecentChanges.

-Isn't there any way to get the My Home page onto here? via the Database Dump or ask ShoutWiki or something? - Ken H
Not that I know of but I'll ask them if something like that can be implemented.  aldy@wiki:~$ _  23:41, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Voting closed at 00:20 on October 28, 2010. Results are as follows:

Option 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Votes 0 8 1 1 4 2 1 2 0

So, option number two has won by far. Hence, Fishy and Cajak stay on as admins and new elections take place for a further two admins. Fishy has declined to run the elections and I'm yet to hear back from Cajak. For now, I suppose I'll run them but I would prefer to be replaced as it's obviously a huge conflict of interest. If Cajak ends up declining, any other third-party person who wants to volunteer will probably get the job. If you prefer having an intro about the hard job of being an admin, just read this. Otherwise, nominations time.

Nominations normally close after a week but I suppose if you don't go on at least once a week, you're not a good candidate for an admin. =P Hence, nominations close at 00:00 on November 1st (UTC), after which voting will begin immediately for the period of seven days. To nominate yourself, just sign using an asterisk and four tildes (* ~~~~). I suppose you can probably nominate someone else if you want. Good luck to all candidates!  aldy@wiki:~$ _  00:20, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Voting is simple and works more or less the same as the previous election. Just add an asterisk and four tildes (* ~~~~) under the use you'd like to vote for. However, unlike previous elections, you vote for two users as there are two positions open. No, you can't vote for yourself but you can change your vote as much as you like before 00:00 on November 8 (UTC) which is when voting closes. If you want to make a campaign statement, feel free to, but it is by no means compulsory. Good luck to all and may the best two users win!

And someone voted for you! xD
--Fael57 15:23, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
It's been twenty-three hours with just as many votes. =P Still another six days to go though. And I still haven't decided who to vote for...  aldy@wiki:~$ _  23:30, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I think you'd be a good choice. From what I've seen you are sane, reasonable, and active. :) Kyng Fyrst 15:42, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Well, looks like I failed! - Ken H

Results

Okey-dokey, voting's ended, finished, kaput. Sorry I'm late, but I had exams on at the time so there. =D And I didn't even end up voting because I'm too indecisive. =P Anyway, the final results are as follows:

Nominee Aldrich Lucas Friedebarth Joefoxon Puchowskijk Ken H Kyng Fyrst Parker I Demontux
Votes 11 5 1 6 0 11 3 5

Hence Kyng Fyrst and myself have both comfortably won and have been appointed admins on here and (when Kyng joins) on Referata which is where we're now moving. =D  aldy@wiki:~$ _  06:12, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
