MicroWiki:Account deletion
This page documents an English MicroWiki policy. It describes a widely accepted standard that all editors should normally follow. Changes made to it should reflect consensus. |
MicroWiki is a free, online encyclopedia that runs on MediaWiki software, the same platform used by Wikipedia. While MicroWiki allows users to create and edit articles on various micronational topics, it does not provide an option to delete user accounts. This is because the MediaWiki software imposes certain restrictions that prevent the deletion of user accounts.
One of the main reasons for this restriction is that user accounts are often linked to various actions within the system. For instance, a user's contributions, edits, and revisions are all tracked by their account. Deleting a user account would result in the loss of this information, which could cause issues with the integrity of the encyclopedia. Moreover, deleting user accounts would require extensive changes to the MediaWiki software, which would be a complex and time-consuming process.
Another reason why MicroWiki accounts cannot be deleted is that the platform is built around the principles of openness and transparency. All edits and contributions made to the encyclopedia are publicly visible, and any user can be held accountable for their actions. Deleting user accounts would compromise this transparency and make it difficult to track the actions of individual users.
While it may be inconvenient for users who wish to delete their MicroWiki accounts, the restrictions imposed by the MediaWiki software make it impossible to do so.
