Member of Parliament (Wellmoore)
In the Kingdom of Wellmoore, a Member of Parliament (MP) is an individual elected to serve in the House of Ministers of the Government of Wellmoore.
Electoral System
All members of the Wellmoorean Parliament are elected using the first-past-the-post voting system in single member constituencies across the nation where each constituency has its own representative.
Elections
Elections happen, typically, once every five years but may be held earlier than that by orders of the Prime Minister of Wellmoore after gaining royal ascent from the monarch.
Eligibility
To be eligible to be elected as an MP, Wellmoorean Citizenship is required. It's recommended that the person standing for Parliament is registered to vote within Wellmoore.
Anyone who's served prison in any country or anyone who is bankrupt are banned from standing for Parliament.
Title
Members of Parliament are entitled to use the post nominal title MP. MPs are only referred to as "Honourable" as a courtesy during debates in the House of Commons. Those who are members of the Privy Council use the form The Right Honourable (The Rt Hon. or Rt Hon.) Name MP.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of MPs are to act in national interests, act in the interest of their constituents and act in the interests of their party (if they belong to one).
