The March 2020 Ovrestlian elections took place on 25 March 2020. They included the 2nd Ovrestlian election to elect the Magister of Ovrestlia. George Kligkatsis was elected Magister, becoming the 2nd Magister and the 1st from the Imperial Party. He succeeded in a campaign against Thomas Zavos, former Magister, who represents the Phoenix of Democracy.
Election
Reasons
After the dissapointing results of the Governing of Thomas Zavos and the insulting of the Monarchy, HIM Thomas Marios I decided to stop his tenure of his office as a Magister and entice him to resign. On 23th March 2020, the Impeial Office announced the resignation of the former Magister. Until the election day, Magister was Vasiliki Kligkatsi, member of the Imperial Party and former Empress.
Campaign
George Kligkatsis had started an overt "war" to Thomas Zavos, from the day of the election. With his gumption and his incredible speeches, his popularity started to raise up, preparing him for a certain win to the next election. Thomas Zavos was agressive in each speech of him and he was always abusing Monarchy and the Imperial Party for a conspiracy againist people. In the beginning of 2020, Demetrios L. founded a center-left socialist party, named the Socialist Freedom. The popularity of it raised up very early, becoming an almost powerful party, as it was the 3rd biggest party, just in 3 months. The far-left parties were illegal since December 2019, and left wing parties lose their strength.
