Ludia, or The Independent Nation of Ludia was created on the 20th January, 2007. It is a moderately popular micronation and currently consists of one political party, Aequitas. It is situated in Beckenham, Kent/London, England. It has a royal family with one reigning monarch, Emperor Kiral - representative of the Ludian nation and one Prime Minister, involved in a single democratical vision of freedom. Due to the small size of Ludia, involvement from all it's citizens in its running of economy is possible, and therefore an aim. The infrastructure of Ludia is fairly non-xistent but for an economy running on income of its own citizens, royalty and government. Ludians base themselves not on money, they claim, but on the notion of a devouted community of people, working together on this fun, yet serious and hard-worked project. Direct involvement from all people in the government, including the royalty, and equality is its motto, if any. It has a secular government, all religions and beliefs of any kind are welcome. The Nation of Ludia relates itself indirectly to the English structure of running - a monarch with relatively low power in comparison to it's government. Like England, its government refers to itself as 'parliament'. Its reasons for creating itself, apart from the notion of direct involvement in politics, are unclear or otherwise, simply for fun. The idea of creating a micronation is itself vague and contraversial, therefore this comes as no surprise.
Counter to Contraversy
The most important public proclamaton of the Ludian Nation is its non-rebellious, non-opposing and non-confrontational approach to the rest of the world, especially the English Government. Whilst it appeals and desires to be recognised as a nation or community of people at the least, that, whilst having no power, exist in the eyes of the English government. They are very strong on their denial in being involved with plots as a group against the government. It encourages humble approach and attitude to the matter of political action concerning the confrontation of other nations. It also claims it's reasons for being created are not based on recreational ideas of fun and non-seriousness, but such ideas are part of its peoples character. Ludians believe in equality of all, and even the King or Emperor is no more 'important' or significant than the next worm or seedling, they claim. They believe they are strong nature-lovers, but are not overly extremist in this view, i.e. being a vegetarian or vegan or standing for animal rights are not law or national policies.
The unavoidable point, naturally, is it's term the 'Independent' Nation of Ludia. Although Ludia is not independent of, ultimately, English laws and infrastructure. And though its methods of living and lifestyle are not at all radical or different in the least; its perhaps superficial icons of 'monarchy' and 'government' are representational of it's wish to be recognised as a wayward, if any, group of people, by the government. And its perhaps slight, but strong views that differ from the current English government's. A notable property of Ludian law is the death penalty, which will only be issued where Ludians feel English law has failed. Due to practical complications, English law primarily overrides and takes priority when serious offences have been comitted by Ludian citizens.
The Ludian flag is the fox encircled in small stars, such an icon has no specific meaning but for the name of the area that Ludia is situated - 'Foxgrove'. It may also signify peace or boldness - Ludian trademarks (a Ludian insider remarked that the ludian 'way' is to silently but steadily work to serve your country - boldly but humbly), with the fox meaning boldness and the stars symbolising unison and peaceful co-operation. The other various emblems and coats of arms have personal backgrounds. As noted above, Ludia has a loosely based motto of equality and freedom. It has a national anthem, colours and national holiday. Despite the fact that it is not recognised by any other country in the world, or organisation except the 'High Meadow Group' company based in Kent, England, and the Foxgrove Union; Ludia has passports, ID cards and uniform. It has a health system, a religion, an army and navy - part of the Ludian Arms and Military Oranisation. Unfortunately there is dipute as to whether such organisations are necessary in a neutral country, amongst its people. Ludia has health systems, a language and a secret code. All other, or more detailed identification of such information, are deeply classified, with exceptions.
The one thing that can be known to the public is the Ludian currency, which is the basic (so much so, in fact, that some may argue it barely qualifies for a currency at all, but the Ludian peoples strongly believe in it's significance), but arguably efficient use of P.I.Ns (post-it-notes) and I.O.Us which, if used in the form of the Ludian pound, with its own pound sign, and if signed by the Prime Minister and the King, are completely valid. The amounts perscribed on such notes are perfectly coverted to the English pound exactly.
The Independent Nation of Ludia had for many years been an undeclared monarchical society with a governmental committee recognised by the head of state. This method of hierarchy has been permanently hammerred into the core way of public society and government today. Since 2001, members still now involved in the upkeep of the running of Ludia, including its monarchy, have conceived the idea of a state run by themselves independent of their previous 'homeland'. The idea materialised in late 2004 with the first advertising and proclaiming of a new micronation to the world commencing in early 2005, leading up to the 20th January Declaration of Independence, 2007. thsi is the date when the official Constitution of Ludia was administered, having been deliberated and created by the Emperor and the Prime Minister personally, in its final stages.
Origins of the Great Rebellion
In late May, 2007, a non-violent civil rebellion against the sovereign state-run hierarchical breach of the previously wholly agreed and signed national constitution, broke out. The Ludian monarchy were divided when this epiphany of the unfairness in Ludian soceity came about. The reigning monarch, Emperor Kiral I of Ludia, became a primary target for the dispute, referred to as 'rebellion' because of its disregard of lawfullness and illegal actions aginst the establishment of the Emperors' Imperial Guild. This establishment is the common-term reference to the establishment of and the established method of being an acting Emperor in Ludia and any actions or organisations related to this. It singles out the establishemt of the Emperor and not the Ludian Royal Family as a whole. This rebellion is now widely agreed to have been provoked by the Ludian Princess Royal, whose encouragement of revolt against the Emperor began theordeal in early May. Other imporatant matters, the 'Ludian Way' of peacefullness and legality prevented the governmental party Aequitas from taking notice of such goading. But on the 21st of May, 2007, the Princess Royal issued an official statement to the Emperor during an official meeting between the Prime minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of State, Duke and Duchess of Fox and the Princess in Waiting, concerning the unpublicised and ignored acts and declarations in the Constitution of Ludia. The acts she addressed in particular concerned the statements which can be summarised to say that the Emperors value of life and possessions outweighed that of any other citizen of Ludia, including the Royal Family. It emerged that not even the Prime Minister was aware of this and that only a few members of the Royal Family and certain Heads of Defence and military secretaries alike were aware of the issued statement. It is now widely acknowledged that any such statements breached Ludian civil rights and other importantly regared issues in the Constitution itself, such as equal rights and division of freedoms i.e equal rights of freedoms of; speech, safety, aid, fair trial etc.
The Great Rebellion
This series of events led to divisions in the people of Ludia. The most important divisions concerned the side of attacking and abolishing the current monarch due to it being corrupt, with the replacement of the Princess Royal, the next in line as new Head of State, but with diminished rights to that of any ordinary citizen, and with special powers that enabled her to carry out civil and Royal duties(but no more so than that of the Prime Ministers'). This side, versus the side of the Emperor who accused the government of carelessness in studying the Official Duties Act, which stated that the government were to diligently elect or renew new acts to be entered into the constitution as required, hence having to scrutinise it on a regular basis. This in theory should have meant that overlooking of this controversial statement in the first place would not have happened. The Emperor proposed that the Agreement of the Constitution on the 20th January meant that renewing of issues as important as this, already agreed apon, would have to involve him. He also proposed reshuffling of the Government. The summary of post-holding individuals brought against eachother in this dispute can be categorised, according to the most significance they had in the developement of the Great Rebellion:
For the appointing of a new monarch and reviewing of the Constitution of Ludia concerning equal rights
The Princess Royal, The Prime Minister, The Duke of Fox, Princess in Waiting, Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of State.
Against the appointing of a new monarch and reviewing of the Constitution of Ludia concerning equal rights
Emperor Kiral, Prince of Fox, Prince Royal, Heads of Defence, Military secretaries, Duchess of Fox.
This unsettled, but non-violent dispute led to the renwing of the Constitution of Ludia without permission of the Emperors' Imperial guild, beginning on the 27th of May, 2007. The Imperial Guild and its allies responded to this by independently voting for the imprisonment until trial of the Princess Royal and Prime Minister for Treason against the Imperial Guild, illegal acts aginst the Nation and the Constitutional Monarchy, illegal acts of government and illegal acts aginst the Constitution. The response was the stating that this vote was illegal and the refusal to stop any proclaimed actions until the Emperor entered talks with the Government and dropped illegal and unnecessary charges. The Emperor agreed on the condition that the Princess Royal would not have presiding argument over him during any talks, and on the 29th My, 2007, entered the first Governmental and Imperial Constitutional Meeting. During this meeting, the Emperor agreed to regular holdings of such meetings and dropping of the charges proclaimed by the 'illegal' vote. However, he refused to give up his title of Emperor, and this resulted in a vote that the Emperor would hold his title and uphold duties previous to the rebellion but have the diminished rights and freedoms as stated by the Government previously. Then, an official review of the meeting was administered and stated several things, that the Emperor officialy proclaimed that he accepted his actions were illegal, inexcusable and breached Ludian Civil Rights and hence the Constitution. It was also stated, however, that the Princess Royal was officially pardoned and in fact praised for her encouraging of opposing of the monarchy for the benefit of the people. It was stated that her own personal interests had no effect on her actions. In future, illegal rections to such incidents would result in trial, unless in exceptional circumstances, due to the ability to legally vote for constitutional and any other official changes.
