Lucas VIII, Prince of Woestein (Salvador, Brazil, 11 September 1991) is one of the founders and the first and only Stadhouder of the United Provinces of Mauritia, being also the reigning Prince of Woestein[1] within Mauritia and Emperor of Badakhshan. Born in Salvador, Lucas became a micronational politician at an early age, engaging in the politics of the Free Community of Pasargada in 2003 and later at the Holy Empire of Reunion, eventually becoming a leading figure in the lusophone micronationalism. In 2013 Lucas, along with other former Pasagardan and Reunian citizens, established the United Provinces of Mauritia, on which he became the feudal lord and governor of the province of Woestein,[2] being subsequently elected Stadhouder for life.

Since assuming the headship of the Mauritiaanse state in 2013,[3] Lucas has transformed Mauritia into a power, the greatest of Lusophone micronationalism after the end of Pasargada and the decline of Réunion. Mauritian culture flourished and the nation became influential over others, assuring Lucas the throne of Badakhshan and Mauritian suzerainty over other micronations such as Noronha and Achsen. A fervent Catholic, Lucas became a high priest of the Micronational Catholic Church (ICM), sanctioned by Brazilian Catholic clergy,[4] having joined the Micronational Order of Friars Minor. Currently, within the Church, he exercises the role of Cardinal-Patriarch of Izabella, in addition to being President of the Micronational Episcopal Conference.[5]

He is also a cousin-in-law of Oscar I, Emperor-King of Karnia-Ruthenia.

Personal life

Lucas was born in Salvador, Brazil, in 11 September 1991, to a white middle-class family. As a child, he attended Colégio Sartre COC, an upper-middle class college in the capital of Bahia, graduating in 2007. Growing up, Lucas studied law, social sciences, and veterinary medicine at Federal University of the San Francisco Valley, where he also served as an intern, and began a master's degree at Federal University of Bahia. Graduated in social sciences, he works as a political journalist and commentator, having been affiliated with Livres, a former youth arm of the Social-Liberal Party. In 2019 he married Tibério, his long-time partner, with whom he lives.

Lucas, commonly known as "Baqueiro", is known for his extremely acid humor, sarcasm and devotion to Catholicism.

Micronational Life

Lucas, Prince of Woestein, one of the founders of the United Provinces of Mauritia is the first holder of the position. He has been a micronationalist since 2004, fed up in the Holy Empire of Réunion, is now a politically experienced, dynamic person, but endowed with an extremely acid humor - and, curiously, for this very reason, acclaimed by Mauritaanse citizens. He is known as one of the biggest Brazilian micronationalists in activity. He was the first Stadhouder, when the function was held for a term of three months, having abdicated after the election of the second government. He returned to the Stadhouderschap[6] in 2015, where he reigns with the support of the entire Mauritaanse people until today.

He is also known for his taste and works in heraldic art, which he has developed in partnership with Mauritiaanse Wapenrol,[7][8][9] the national body of Mauritia, responsible for advancing the studies of fundamental historical fields within micronationalism, such as heraldry, vexillology, genealogy and story.

He is a micro-Catholic priest and religious, having joined the Micronational Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans). Currently, within the Church, he serves as Micronational Metropolitan Archbishop of Olinda and Mauritsstad, in the Mauritiaanse capital, in addition to being President of the Micronational Episcopal Conference, an ecclesiastical body that takes care of administration, justice and liturgy within the Church.[10] Despite its ecclesiastical functions, Mauritia is a secular country that accepts and respects people of the most different creeds, since its essence is pluri-religious and non-confessional.
