Kleinburg, officially the Crown of Kleinburg (Kleinburg Königreich in German) and sometimes referred to as the Kingdom of Kleinburg was a micronation and estate of the Holy Roman Empire based around the history and culture of medieval feudalism which existed in Europe during the middle ages; it was unique in that regard as it operated under the principals of divine right and neoabsolutism with the realm being the personal property of the royal family, namely the monarch, from whom all laws and decrees were issued. It is because of this that Kleinburg was best not described as a nation state by modern definition, but rather as the personal realm and property of the House of Ross.

Kleinburg was created by longtime micronationalist, Charles Ross in early 2020 following the dissolution of his previous state; the Phoklandian Free State that he had helped to found and run since 2007.

As a nation, Kleinburg operated as an absolute monarchy based under the principals of divine right. As such, within the context of the country the King/Queen had virtually unchecked power; limited only by international law and the macronations that surrounded Kleinburg. The government of Kleinburg functioned as a government in exile seeing that all territory which had previously belonged to Phokland then belonged to Bregusland (Austenasia) and the Grand Navārdian Commonwealth.

The name "Kleinburg" came from a combination of the German words Klein (meaning small) and Burg (meaning castle); thus, anglicized the realm's name meant "Small Castle". The name was chosen as an attempt to represent both the minuscule nature of the state and the royal feudal nature of the government thereof.

The realm had a history forged by tradition and dynastic politics. Since the House of Ross was founded in 2007, they have held many positions within the micronational community, namely within the many incarnations of the Kingdom of Rosston and the successor state to it, Phokland.

Kleinburg itself was founded in mid-2020 after the fall of the Phoklandian Free State; the tumultuous collapse of the nation led to the Ross family losing most of their previously held lands to other micronations. Sanctuary was found however within the Holy Roman Empire, of which Phokland had previously been a member. It was decided by the other Princes in the Imperial Diet that the House would be allowed to assert direct control over a hypothetical realm lacking in any physical territory. In essence, a new feudal state would be founded based purely around it's royal family; doing this would grant the Ross's the ability to exercise political power within the Empire on a dynastic level without having to fully commit to the creation of a brand new state.

With this in mind, work begun to create the new pseudo-nation and at exactly midnight (MST) on the 28th day in April of 2020, the Crown of Kleinburg would officially come in to being.

The new country struggled to get off of the ground with virtually no activity continuing past the first week of existence. The final nail in the coffin came in May of 2020 when the head of the project, Charles Ross left to join the Commonwealth of Dracul. It was not long after this that Kleinburg entered into extended inactivity culminating in the state being declared officially defunct in June. It was subsequently resurrected a short while later and was renamed to the Kingdom of Krunmark.

The government of the kingdom functioned as an absolute monarchy under the structure of feudal divine right with the monarch being seen as having been allowed by God to rule over Kleinburg. Thusly speaking, the monarch of the nation had near absolute control over the affairs of state and those of the subjects who served thereof. However, this isn't to say that there weren't any other members of the government, for example, the position of Staatsoberhaupt (roughly translated to "State Manager") existed as an advisor to the monarch, tasked with creating and managing the royal court. Said individual acted in a manner akin to that of a Prime Minister.

The Kleinburgish monarchy was a pivotal part of the nation's culture and governance. The final ruler was Her Royal Majesty, Queen Marie I of the House of Ross. Mother of former monarch Charles Ross, she assumed the throne following the crown being offered to her by her son in an attempt to get a "fresh face" onto the throne. She abdicated following Kleinburg's dissolution and was replaced on the throne by Samson I.

Military ensign of the kingdom

Kleinburg had no standing military; however, the monarch and other nobles within the nation reserved the right to assemble a feudal levy for the purposes of protecting the realm and the greater empire.

The culture and traditions of the nation were heavily based on medieval feudalism, particularly that which occurred in central Europe. A heavy emphasis was placed on mimicking both German and ancient Byzantine traditions with a stylized "court culture" comparable to that which existed in France during the 17th and 18th centuries.
