The Kingdom of Floland is a micronation surrounded by the republic of Cyprus, an island in the east corner of the Mediterranean sea.

The Kingdom of Floland (KOF) declared independence from Cyprus on the 26th of November 2014 after the government of Cyprus failed to fulfil the promises it made to the people that there will be no haircut to the bank savings and no privatization of economic key companies like the Cyprus Telecommunication Authority and the Electricity Authority of Cyprus.

Leader of the KOF is His Highness the King Andreas the Majestic. Currently the Kingdom numbers eleven citizens and many followers.

Flag of the Kingdom of Floland

The flag of the Kingdom of Floland consists of two horizontal blue-purple and white bands charged with the coat of arms at the canton and a rosemary branch at the right site. Adopted in 2014 after being officially enshrined into the nation's constitution, it has been the flag of the Kingdom of Floland since that year.

The white color represents peace, purity and innocence. Blue represents freedom, vigilance, perseverance, justice, prosperity and patriotism. Purple is the favorite color of queen Marin, the first queen of Floland and represents justice, royal majesty, and sovereignty.

Rosemary represents friendship, love and fidelity — and possesses far more character than a simple rose.

Coat of Arms

The Royal Coat of Arms consists of a quartered (composite) red and yellow shield guarded by two rams and decorated by roses. The red color signifies magnanimity and military strength and the yellow color signifies wisdom, generosity, glory, constancy and faith. On the top of the shield lays the royal crown of the queen of Floland and below in a scroll the Latin phrase “Amantes sunt amentes” which translates as “Lovers Are Lunatics”.

On the first quarter of the shield there is a crossbow and three arrows. The crossbow represents the zodiac sign of His Highness King Andreas the Majestic of Floland and the 3 arrows stand for the Triad, being the number of the whole as it contains the beginning, the middle and the end.

On the second quarter there is the tower of Othello. It is an emblem of grandeur and of society. It is also a symbol of the defense and an individual fortitude. The green door and the white windows of the tower are the colors of Othellos Athienou, the soccer team which King Andreas supports and which also has the tower of Othello as its emblem.

On the third quarter there are two crossed keys. The key is a symbol of knowledge, guardianship and dominion. The two key cross is the symbol to the gates of heaven. The end of the first key is a four-piece puzzle, a favorite hobby of the royal couple. The outline of the head of the keys are forming two apples, a fruit that is harvest in the royal gardens.

The fourth quarter has 3 Venetian masks which symbolize the visual, the performing and the language arts.

The shield is guarded by two rams which is a symbol of authority and leadership. It is also the zodiac sign of Queen Marin.

Finally the purple roses on top of the shield, which are also found in the royal gardens, is a symbol of regal, justice, royal majesty, and sovereignty.
