East Caledonia, officially the Kingdom of East Caledonia is an autonomous territory which claims sovereignty, though is not recognized by any UN members. Therefore it is commonly referred to as a micronation. Founded in eastern Scotland, west of Dundee, East Caledonia declared it's sovereignty on the 2nd of July 2018. A document was signed on the 3rd of July, making it official. East Caledonia currently claims no territory on land outside of the core nation.
East Caledonia is officially a secular state, with no official religions. Most of the nations culture comes from the enclaving United Kingdom, and more specifically Scotland.
History
Reign of Alexander I (Alex Mason)
The Kingdom of East Caledonia was founded by King Alexander I on the 2nd of July 2018. Since then the nation has established an online presence, as well as diplomacy with many other nations.
Micronational Organisations
The SMA
East Caledonia joined The SMA on the 2nd of September 2018 with the objective of connecting with fellow Scottish micronations. Unfortunately, The SMA suffered the same fate as most micronational organizations; The SMA eventually became stagnant. East Caledonia left the organisation on the 3rd of April, 2019.
The MEG
On the 20th of September 2018, East Caledonia joined The MEG or, Micronational Emergence Group. The goal of the MEG was to assist and guide new micronations and micronationalists. By late 2018 the organisation had stagnated. On the 14th of January 2019 East Caledonia terminated its membership, courtesy of King Alexander I.
The Amullia Pact
8 days after joining The MEG, East Caledonia joined the Amullia Pact (28/09/18). By October of that year the group had ceased to be active. The pact disbanded on the 17th of October 2018.
USov
On the 14th of October 2018, East Caledonia joined a group by the name of USov, or The United Sovereignties. After being a member of the organisation for over a year, a long period of stagnation within East Caledonia led to the nation terminating its USov membership at 6:42pm GMT on 08/02/20.
