Background

The April 2021 Georgienstinian congressional election resulted in Georgienstine First becoming the majority party after the Social Democratic and Liberal parties caucused with them.

On 17 April 2021, Amelia Brown was elected speaker winning 10 votes with 6 congresspeople abstaining. During her tenure as speaker, Brown was considered inactive as she had passed two bills and had only confirmed one nominee for a cabinet position. Three nominees remain unconfirmed.

On 5 May 2021, congressperson Gaia Grìbhinneach, who was serving a second non-consecutive term, resigned once again and was replaced by Gus Rósínśtí.

On 27 May 2021, President Raphaël Olivier called for an election for June 5, 2021, six days before the maximum date, following the release of a statement attacking the inactive congress.
