The land of The Isle of Lithua

The Kingdom of Lithua, commonly known as Lithua is a micronation that claims an island in the river Irfon. It is not recognised by any macronational country or government. Although it is recognised by several other micronations and micronational entities. Most notably the Principality of Aigues-Mortes, Grand Duchy of Flandrensis and Empire of Stomaria.

The micronation mainly focuses on wildlife conservation and raising awareness of the preservation of riparian habitats. Thus, erecting bird and insect boxes, planting biodiverse seeds, and removing invasive plants from the river island.

History

Founded on the 7th June 2020 this tiny micronation was founded by HRH Crown Prince John of The Isle of Lithua.

In September 2021 the Isle of Lithua had it's first state visit and welcomed photographer Alex Stewart to her shores.

Legitimizing claims

Legitimacy is based on a local legend:

During the childhoods of John, Prince of Lithua and his sister Princess Clare of Lithua growing up in the small rural Welsh village, the island in the centre of the village between the two rivers was said to belong to 9 different people in its entirety at the same time. During the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the two siblings decided to explore this further by contacting the relevant authorities. According to Land Registry there was no record of the landmass ever being owned by anyone and as such, the siblings laid out a formal claim of ownership and after several days of heavy drinking, proclaimed it as a micronation free of any government authority, crowning their father in the process.

Diplomacy

The governmental duties are carried solely by senior members of the royal family, and include such things as donating to local charities, trade deals, diplomatic visits, and press campaigns.

Lithua became an external trading ally of Stomaria May 2022, and as such still accepts the Stomarian Stater as currency throughout the nation. The two main exports of Lithua are white wine and cured Salmon, as fishing is the only plentiful food resource nationwide, though trading has for the time being been halted. As Bullion is the official currency of The Kingdom, the late king HM King Graham I felt it an amicable and mutually beneficial arrangement between the two micronations, as well as the other micronations that make up the Empire of Stomaria. Thus, forging friendships between Lithua and The Kingdom of Waywood and The Kingdom of Solacia . Lithua never joined the Empire, and maintained trade relations, however in January 2023 both nations severed diplomatic ties as it was decided that Lithua no longer met Stomaria's criteria for recognition.

In September 2022, both the future king, and his sister attended their first state visit abroad at The Princely Ball of the Golden Bucket in Aigues-Mortes to celebrate the Aigues- Mortese tin jubilee. This event was previously postponed due to the pandemic and certain travel restrictions. This meeting solidified and also birthed diplomatic bonds between Lithua and Aigues-Mortes, Flandrensis, Principality of Hélianthis, Principality of Beremagne, Principality of Shedingeh and Ladonia.

Notably in November 2022, All the 3 most senior members of the Lithuan Royal Family were awarded the Order of the Polar Cross by Travis I, Grand Duke of Westarctica of Westarctica for their cordial relations between their nations, and most notably their shared efforts to raise awareness on the importance of environmental preservation in their respective micronations. This awarded was graciously and enthusiastically accepted by John, Prince of Lithua, Princess Clare of Lithua and also Cherry, The Queen Mother of Lithua.
