I stole this. fun facts!
I stole this. fun facts! were a series of daily posts of mostly trivia made to the Yellow Bear Micronational-3 (YBM-3 or ybm-3) channel on the MicroWiki@Discord Discord server by Prince Zarel of New Eiffel.
An idea taken from a format started by Emperor Logan I of Aenopia, the first fact was published on 2 December 2019 and the last on 30 May 2020. Each fact was published daily, with rarely some days occasionally being missed and later posted on the same day to catch up, counting the number of days since the first fact was published.
Background and beginning
On 11 November 2019, Logan posted a message on the server which was styled as Fun facts with Logan - Day 1. The message made the MicroWiki@Discord Hall of Fame. The format was copied and parodied over the next few weeks by other users, including Zarel himself. Some facts continued daily for a few days. Alongside other users, Zarel also published a fact on 2 December 2019 in the same format comically titled "I stole this. fun facts! - Day 1", the first fact was "Mars is entirely populated by robots (two). And they'll never meet each other because they are on opposite sides of the planet."
Receiving generally favourable attention, the format continued almost daily from there on.
On 19 December, the first non-fact was posted on day 18, "Is sand called sand because it is in between land and the sea?", it was later dubbed a 'thought' - Thoughts would occasionally after that also be apart of some daily facts.
On 9 March, the fun fact for day 100 was posted, titled "Day 100! The average four year-old child asks over four hundred questions a day."
On 18 April, the fun fact for day 141 read "Why not make it the opposite, y'all should tell me your fun facts: (I am running low)".
171 days of facts were published, before ending on 30 May 2020.
On 6 December 2019, a fact titled "I stole this. fun facts! PG Version - Day 1" was posted, after complaints about day 5's fun fact being decently inappropriate. On 4 May 2020, the channel ŽMM-4 (translation of YBM in Czech) with the description 'I stole this. fun facts!' in Czech was made on Czech MicroWiki Discord with the purpose of posting random facts.
On 31 December 2019, the first poll was posted and titled "Should I actually continue this? If no one cars [sic] I will still post it, but if it is annoying I can stop." Two reactions were added, a thumb-up (indicating yes) and a thumb-down (indicating no), by the end of the day the poll had received six votes to continue and zero votes to stop - Thus, the fun facts continued.
On 10 March 2020, fun fact day 101 acted as a poll, titled "Poll edition: should I continue my daily fun facts or end it?", voting was the same as the first poll. Voting ended after exactly eleven or so hours, ending in eleven voting to continue and two voting to end it.
Both polls asking whether or not to continue the series of facts have both shown overall positive reception.
Some facts had been noted by various users as having been erroneous or stolen from other fact and trivia websites.
