The Holy Violet Church, unofficialy Occitan Holy Violet Church is the institution wich unified the membres of the Holy Violet Cult, micronational religion founded in Popular Union of Occitania. It was the official religion of the Popular Union of Occitania. The faithful believe that violets are the source of the power of the soul and believe that god is also a violet.

It was firstly revived on 30 June 2020 under the same name, by Telesphore Bartolomee. Due to the Bradonic Schism, (which fragmented the Holy Violet Church into two entities during nearly 9 months (the original occitan form, and the Holy Bradonic Violet Church), it was reformed by Leopold Deuff who became the current Primate, Amaranth.

History

Occitanian period - Babolus and Juan (2016-2020)

6 November 2016 : The Violet God gives to Babou Chkaya the Violet Odyssey, and gives him the mission to spread his message into his micronation. The same day, Babou Chkaya founds the Holy Violet Church, by proclaiming all its principles and dogmas during a one-day-Council : The Oranje Council. This Council is only public throught the creation (by Chkaya) of violetist pages and many over updates on some other MicroWiki pages, concerned by the micro-religion.

19 November 2016 : His Holiness Babou Chkaya (title never used) recognizes the conversion of Lluis Esteve Y Rando, the sole Antaresian citizen and non-Occitan person, to become violetist.

1st/9 March 2017 : H.H. Babou Chkaya canonizes Helena and Sergi.

7 May 2017 : The Presidential Office of the Occitanian Popular Union releases the Constitution, in which the Violetism is the State Religion. The exercising President is getting the title of "Primate of the Holy Violet Church".
19 June 2017 : Lluis Esteve establishes a church within Soternes. It's the sole historical violettist cult place to be established outside the Popular Union of Occitania. It is not known if it has received pontifical approbation or not.

30 June 2017 : H.H. Chkaya canonizes Maggie.

6 July 2017 : The Primate Chkaya institutes the purple flag as the official church flag.

December 2017 Occitanian presidential election : With the withdrawal of Babou Chkaya from the presidential office, it appears that, for the first time in its history, the title of "Violetist Primate" will be given ceded to another one. They were three candidates, one violetist (Juan Cisneros), one atheist (Lorena Serantes) and David Stardust, an outsider without any relatable religious opinions. It seems that, for a violetist, the greatest vote was for Juan Cisneros. Due to the fact that Lorena Serantes was a communist, the Holy Violet Church may would have been dissolved. However, it is totally impossible to estimate what would have happened if Stardust would have been President.

Finally, on 15 January 2018, Juan Cisneros is elected at the office of Occitanian President and, de facto, at the Primatial violet office, with 51,61% of vote percentage. But the new Primate was quite reserved and largely prefered being President than being Primate. Any publication (nor modification on violetist pages) was made.

28 October 2018 : The Occitanian Popular Union (with the Holy Violet Church) is dissolved. The same day, Babou Chkaya is already reflecting on re-creating another Occitanian-like micronation, the Republic of the Pyrenees.

25 June 2019 : The Popular Union of Nova-Occitania is re-established, but without any mentions to a state religion. The Violetism seems to be considered as out of fashion and futile. However, a little vestige can be found on the Order of the Violette.

22 June 2020 : Nova-Occitania is dissolved. In spite of this, barely 10 days later, on 30 June, Telesphorus Bartolomée, a young Frenchman, who had been circling the micronational world for some time, without necessarily taking the plunge, decided to take action. Under the name of Felix Savoyet, he signed a document of "independence" for the forthcoming succession of the Holy Violet Church, which, for the time being, was embodied in a state, named "Pontifical State of Malvania". After some wandering, doubts and questioning, he reconsidered the form and finally chose to re-establish the Church in the appearance it had originally known. He convinces himself to wait for the day when he would receives a real violet sweet, so that he can make a proper conversion, without cheating or pretending.

Refoundation and Schism - Hyacinth and Daniel (2020-2022)

This is done on 23 December 2020. After attesting it on his honour, the following day, on Christmas Eve (24 December), he made his accession to the Violet Primacy official and chose the name "Hyacinth", in obvious reference to the hyacinth (a flower which, in some cases, has a violet/purple colour), but also as a tribute to Jacinta Marto, one of the three children who claimed to have seen the Holy Virgin Mary in the small Portuguese town of Fatima, and who, according to what is said about her, placed great emphasis on devotion and prayer for the Catholic Pontiff.

23 February 2021. H.H. Hyacinth is founding the Bishopric of Anchor, which is dedicated to be the Violetist Headquarters (Pastoral Decree n°1).

27 March 2021. The Primate consecrated the Seed of Chien-Cassejoie (Brokenjoy-Dog), due to a miracle that was performed by five violets : Imelda, Seraphin, Florianne, Stephany and Pascal. The Primate, during a walk, passed a private property where dogs started barking at him. As he raised his hand to bless them, the dogs instantly fell silent. Barely five minutes later, Hyacinth found, on the edge of a lawn, a plant of five violets, which seemed to confirm to him a divine presence in the event that had just taken place.

28 March 2021. A Pontifical Mass is held at Anchor.

6 April 2021. After several months of hard work, His Holiness Hyacinth released his sole encyclical (more commonly called "Ensenhaire Lettre"), Colgut Coma Divessa, which talks about the presence of the Moon into the first antic cults. This great letter should have made public a new holy text, which followed the Violet Odyssey, and in which it was explained the origin of the Moon, according to the Violet mysticism. Unfortunately, because he lacked time (and because it was a work for the History of Art), Hyacinth cut short his reflection, and had to content himself with the presentation of the pre-Judaic cults. A new version of Colgut Coma Divessa was on the roots, but at this time, none news was heard about it.

25 April 2021. The Great Violetist Archives, with the approval of the Primate, release the first version of a document which regroups all the statements and acts from the first Violetist Primate, Babou Chkaya. A second version is made public two days later.

5 June 2021. A Funeral Mass is held for a dead chicken.

9 August 2021. His Holiness released his second decree, which formally canonize the flowers of the Brokenjoy-Dog Seed, making it the first canonization of the Church of the Holy Violet since its renovation, as well as the first for over four years. This canonisation is solemny pronounced during the Mass of November 6, 2021, during the Revelation Day.

17 August 2021. The actual version of the Conpendium of the Babou Chkaya's Pontificate is published.

7 September 2021. Due to the happening of the Dracul-Graustarkian Affair, His Holiness Hyacinth published Amb Incoumprensieu (With Misunderstanding), an opened letter, in which he gives his opinion, as well as the reasons for his support for the Principality of Graustark. The event lasts around one week.

4 October 2021. Following the death of Lars Vilks, His Holiness Hyacinth sends a letter of condolence to Ladonia.

15 October 2021. In his third decree, the Primate is erasing the terms of "Holy See" into official documents, replacing them by "Bishopric of Anchor".

25 October 2021. The creation of an official Instagram account is enacted.

29 October 2021. Primate Hyacinth publishes his first Decretal Constitution (Tornat del Nient - Back from the dead), in which he regulates the Violettist meetings of an administrative and reforming nature. His fourth decree is released with the Constitution. Its aim was to prepare the next Great Violettist Council, which was to open on 26 December 2021, with an Opening Mass. Unfortunately, it wasn't done, due to lack of time.

21 November 2021. After some exchanges on Instagram (including a letter from the Primate, dated from November 2, 2021), the Holy Violet Church and the Republic of Toubak concludes an alliance.

On December 3, 2021, His Holiness gives his first (and sole) radio message, to the participants of the COM 1, organised by the Republic of Toubak, which brings together ten or so micronations, on the subject of the climate, following the COP 26, which apparently did not produce the expected results.

2 January 2022. In his fifth decree, Hyacinth decided to make the Church completely neutral. He wished to regulate the speech of religious leaders (including the Primate himself), so that Violetism would not give the impression of wanting to divide, by its own opinion, whereas its aim is to bring people together.

24 February 2022. The Primate recognizes the conversion of HRSM Lord Bernhardt I, King of the Bradonians. This is the first conversion since Lluis Esteve Y Rando's, which took place on 19 November 2016. More than five years have passed between the two.

25 February 2022. Following the Russian attack on Ukraine, His Holiness Hyacinth declares that the Holy Violet Church will remain neutral, announcing the helding of a Mass (so as to pray for the peace and for the wounded people that the war caused), on February 27. The Mass was indeed said, but since that day the text has not been made public. This is because the Primate celebrated the Mass without preparing any text in advance.

In a completely unexpected statement, on March the 1st, His Holiness Hyacinth announced his intention to resign from the primatial office. He says he wants to resign in favour of Lord Bernhardt, although it is not certain that this can be done.

6 March 2022. In order to prepare the way for his eventual successor, Hyacinth published his sixth and last decree, in which he changed the name of the Violettist Primatist Bishopric. In homage to the Popular Union of Occitania, and to the Occitan roots of the Holy Violet Church, he replaced "Anchor" by "Malba". A note explains that this name is a contraction of "malva" (an Occitan word for "purple") and "Alba", the name of Vicent Branchadell's place of residence in the Republic of Three Flowers, a federal subject of the Popular Union of Occitania.

7 March 2022. His Holiness Hyacinth, by publishing his second Decretal Constitution (called Derrièira Annada : "The Last Year"), which announces his renouncement of the Primatial fonction, in favour of Lord Bernhardt (recently) and which codifies his entry in emeritus. This is his last pontifical document. Lord Bernhardt officially accepts his appointment as the new Violettist Primate, and takes the pontifical name of Daniel. The Bradonic episcopat of Holy Violet Church becomes the "Holy Bradonic Violet Church". However, this act creates an abrupt break with the Republic of Luminor, with which an act of protection had been signed, for the Church. In protestation of these schism, Valentin Paladan, the Luminorian Regent, try to propose the foudation of two patriarchats for Holy Violet Church at Bradonic Primat Daniel. Unofficially, this event marks the end of the Pontificate of Daniel, which lasted one day only, and follows what was called the Bradonic Schism.

Reformation - Amaranth (Since 2022)

14 March 2022. The Luminorian regent wishes to keep alive the traditional Occitan violet church, and, as a concrete act, decides to place on the Primatial Throne his counterpart Leopold Deuff, President of the Jaïlavera, who had a lot of affinities with the defunct Popular Union of Occitania and for Babou Chkaya. The latter having converted (and having been informed about the Bradonic Schism and the vacancy of the primatial function), he accepted Valentin's proposal, adopting the name of Amaranth.
17 March 2022. The new Primate write and send a mail to Brayvenic I about the resolution of the Bradonic Schism. He talks also about the Valentin Paladin's solution for Reunification of Holy Violet Church.
18 March 2022. Brayvenic I post his response to Leopold Deuff's mail. The King of Bradonia, as Primat of Holy Bradonic Violet Church, recognises Leopold Deuff as the "Primat of Traditional Holy Violet Church", but want to conserve his ownership on Holy Bradonic Violet Church. In this evening, His Holiness post his inaugural pontifical bulla Nostre communauté a un Primat (french for Our community have a primate), publicly and solemnly announcing his accession to the primatial dignity. The Schism is not resolved (there were two different violettist leaders), but the Church of the Occitan tradition (as perceived by Primates Babolus and Hyacinth) is preserved in its succession and in its heritage. The operation is a half-success.
20 March. His Holiness Amaranth organises his first mass since his introduction to the title of Primat of Holy Violet Church on Discord, in private messages group Relations Jaïlavera-Luminor (french for Jailavera-Luminor Relationship) and in private message filter of Valentin Paladan.
7 December. With the dissolution of the Holy Bradonic Violet Church, the Bradonic Schism finally came to an end. This event ushered in a new era for Holy Violet Church, along with the New Year, the first to be celebrated under the pontificate of Primate Amaranth. It had lasted eight months and twenty-nine days.
26th May 2023. Amaranthe becomes the longest-serving Primate in the history of the Church.

5	Amaranth	Leopold Deuff	14 March 2022 - ongoing	Reformater of the Church, Amaranth devoted his pontificate¹ primarily to clarifying the Church's links with its past, notably through the update of primatial recognition of unusual places of worship or Violetist conversions (both past and present). But he is also known for having focused his primatial mandate on the restoration of spirituality, being the first Primate to have created dedicated prayers for Violettist worship. Under his pontificate, the Bradonic Schism finally came to an end, with the dissolution of the Holy Bradonic Violet Church, on 7th December 2022. He is the Primate who celebrated the highest number of masses, compared to his predecessor's pontificates. Effectively, every Sunday, he celebrates them on the Church's official Discord server.

Liturgy

Saint book

The Saint book of the Holy Violet Church is the Violet Odyssey. This text is believed to have been revealed by the Violet God to Babou Chkaya, the then President of the Popular Union of Occitania, on 6 November 2016, as he told it. With the ascension of a new primate, it is expected that new texts would be unveiled, but, as of now, any official source has confirmed nor denied it.

In any case, a primacy of honour is and would be reserved for the first text given to the Occitan President, in his time. That's why the Violet calendar starts its annual countdown from this date. In official documents, either the Violet year (in Roman numerals, forcefully) replaces the Gregorian year, or it is added after it.

For example, in the Holy Violet Church, you can write "6 November 2016 - I" and/or "6 November I".

Practice of religion

Devotees call violet God in moments of doubt for advice or to ask a favor. Violets are respected while daisies are sacrificed at religious holidays. Violets can do miracles. If that happens, the violet becomes by his first name a saint.

The wafers are replaced by violet sweets. It should also eat one to convert.

Masses are held on Sundays. They begin with a prayer for the world. There Next is a reading of the Violet Odyssey. They end with a personal prayer.
