The Holy Empire of the Kappa, more commonly known as the Empire, is a secessionist micronation in Southwest Idaho. It is landlocked within the city of Meridian, Idaho and has two territories: the Parklands Territory and the Simurgh Economic Zone. The micronation was founded on 17 March 2021 and has remained relatively active for the three years since.
History
2021
Founding
The Holy Empire of the Kappa was founded on 17 March 2021 as a concept for an eco-society, to demonstrate the principles of living in tune with the environment. The same day as its founding, the Emperor's brother founded another micronation, the Mariana Trench Alliance. On the same day as both nations' founding, they signed the Treaty of Simurgh, permanently allying the two nations.
The next day, 18 March 2021, the Empire formally announced its two territories, the Simurgh Economic Zone and the Parklands Territory.
Throughout the rest of the year, the Empire remained active, not accomplishing much during this time.
2022
TeamValeVRG raid and counter-raid
After reports of a "raid" on the TeamValeVRG Discord server on 29 May 2022, the Kappan Army Special Operations Unit began planning a counter-raid on the attacker or attackers. The mission was successful. A brief period of inactivity ended with the Empire's entrance into the Valentia Pact on 24 July 2022.
Kappan Civil War
The Co-principality of Kappan, a short-lived rebellious state, declared war on the Holy Empire of the Kappa on 5 July 2022 after a dispute about the form of government within the Empire. By the next day, 6 July, the Kappan Civil War had ended, with the leaders of the Co-principality abdicating. Immediately after the formal surrender, the Empire's military budget quadrupled. After a while, the Empire returned to inactivity.
Era of Stagnation concludes
The so-called "Era of Stagnation," the longest period of inactivity in the Empire, ended 7 November 2022, when the governmental position of Minister of the Environment was filled and much more activity began. Many other positions were filled in the next few days, followed by a pair of treaties with other micronations.
2023
Twin revivals
After a long period of inactivity, the Empire revived itself with a concentration on building intermicronational relationships. After a brief period of interaction with Molossia, the Empire faded back into inactivity. On 10 November 2023, the Holy Empire of the Kappa was formally reestablished and began to develop toward macronational recognition.
2024
Heavy snowfall
In early January 2024, the heaviest snowfall on record paralyzed the surrounding macronational city for three to four days. During this time, the Army mobilized its civil defense battalion and assisted in clearing streets, sidewalks, and other facilities within the Parklands Territory and the Simurgh Economic Zone.
Government restructuring
In mid-February 2024, the Kappan government was restructured by decree of the Emperor. The 2024 Kappan general election ended 18 February 2024, electing new members into the Empire's government. From this time until August, the nation ran smoothly, passing several new laws and developing the nation further.
Involvement with the Theritree government-in-exile
After the Gearheart Revolution in the Eco-Republic of Theritree on 7 August 2024, the Holy Empire of the Kappa supported the Theritree government-in-exile. The exile government currently resides in Simurgh.

Law and order
Police
After the 2024 government restructuring, the police forces of each territory were placed under the Department of the Interior. Due to nonexistent crime rates within the Empire, the police forces receive very little funding or equipment, rendering them a very ineffective group.
Judicial system
The Kappan judicial system comprises of a Supreme Court and the territorial courts of the Simurgh Economic Zone and the Parklands Territory. The judicial system suffers from the same issues as the police force, as crime in the Empire is nonexistent.
Military
The Kappan military comprises of an army, navy, and air force.
Air force
The Kappan Air Force is the largest unit of the Kappan military. Its infrastructure includes Kestrel Air Force Base in the Simurgh Economic Zone and Blue Air Force Base in the Parklands Territory, as well as two remote control aircraft.
Geography
The Empire exists within a macronational city, resulting in a very level territory. The highest point in the Empire is Felix Point in the southwestern corner of the Parklands. The lowest point is the Charlie Depression in the Simurgh Economic Zone.
Climate
The Holy Empire of the Kappa is located within the macronational city of Meridian, Idaho. The Empire's climate, as well as that of its surrounding area, is semi-arid with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and dry, with temperatures regularly exceeding 100°F (38°C). Winters are cold, with average temperatures never breaking 28°F (-2°C), and light snowfall.
