History

Union with Havnesgade-Amager

Modern Bregentine history begins with the establishment of Hobartstown and Victoria as Havnesgade-Amager, a semi-presidential, and later parliamentary-classical hybrid republic, on 1 June 2011. Hobartstown and Victoria remained a constituent state of Havnesgade-Amager until 31 March 2013. The period was one of great prosperity and progress for Hobartstown and Victoria, especially in terms of cultural advancement and the construction of diplomatic relationships. The Bregentine state, when unified with Havnesgade-Amager allowed for the growth of the various countries which later became a part of Havnesgade-Amager, most notably Montania, which blossomed into the Ashukov Federation upon Havnesgade-Amager's collapse on 5 April 2013.

The union with Havnesgade-Amager, was dominated by the first Bregentine Prime Minister, historically termed Minister-President, Lucien Christian Albertschine de Chavannes. Albertschine de Chavannes introduced a series of reforms to the Amagerian state. The crowning achievement of Albertschine's presidency and later premiership was the restoration of order and the rule of law after the Winter Crises, observed in Hobartstown and Victoria as the Friday of Liberty.

Albertschine de Chavannes' pragmatic management of the Winter Crises resulted in the successful adoption of the May Constitution, based on the German Basic Law and the Treaty of Amasburg, Havnesgade-Amager's basic law when governed as a mandate of the now defunct Organisation of Active Micronations. This established a stable government, with free and democratic elections being held for the first time on 3 June 2012.
