Heraldry in the Kingdom of Gradonia is granted to common, noble, and royal persons, as well as provinces and marches. The chief authority for heraldry is the Royal Guild of Heralds headed by the High Master of Arms. The national arms of Gradonia and the first royal arms of the House of Wilson were made prior to the creation of the guild, but are patented.

Noble families, and families of members of the Order of William I, Order of the Gilded Rose and Order of Charlington are also granted arms and the right to inherit them. Each province of Gradonia has a regional guild master and each march has an apprentice under their respective provincial master. The guild also enforces international authority through Journeymen of Arms, who are not masters but have the authority to grant arms in their jurisdiction at the assent of the High Master.

Augmentation

Augmentations in Gradonian Heraldry include Honors and Abatements. Both of which may be granted to an individual and cannot be inherited, or to a House of family and can be inherited.

Honors

In Gradonia, an Augmentation of Honor, or simply an Honor, may be displayed in any fashion the Herald designs. However, there is a common Honor granted by compatriots of the Monarch and those who have found their favor: on a bend Argent an eagle Azure or, to not violate the rule of tincture, on a bend Azure an eagle Argent. An example of a unique honor is the Arms of the House of Perkins which features the augmentation of a double tressure Gules.

Abatement

Abatement is the opposite to an Honor where the recipient has been convicted of misconduct. Abatements can only be issued by the monarch and granted by the High master of the Royal Guild of Heralds. All abatements are those which follow the Gallo-British heraldic tradition.
