The Governorate of Millisia is a Governorate of the Kingdom of Fontasia. Its capital is the city of Arinolis. It has a total population of 2. Millisia has been an important region in Assemblia and Fontasia, known for its large forested lands and its namesake, Lake Millis, a large man-made reservoir that is actually a flooded forest.

Brief History

The area of Millisia has been inhabited by humans for thousands of years. There is an archaeological site in the Governorate of an Native American village along the Assabet River, which once flowed further south than present-day.

Assemblian history began in the mid-2010s when the region was conquered by the Fontasians in 2015. The area received little attention until around 2017, when the city of Millis (not actually within Fontasian territory) became a major hub of culture in Assemblia, similar to modern Isovo. Several conflicts occurred in the region, notably against the Serkellians, a group of notably hostile peoples inhabiting the Governorate.

In late 2017, the Fletovians, who originally inhabited the far eastern region of Cappadania a few miles east of Assemblia arrived in the area, colonizing the Serkell Delta where the Brunas River exited into Lake Millis. The critical Fletovian Crisis in 2018 occurred in Millisia, where war between the Third Assemblic Empire and the Empire of the Fleetwoods nearly occurred. The region retained prominence until late 2019 as a major center for innovation in Assemblia.

In first two years of the 2020s, Millisia's political power dwindled, and after the Fall of '22 in February 2022, it became among the first regions to unify with precursors to the Kingdom of Fontasia. Millisia was established as a Fontasian governorate on 1 March 2022. In January 2023, Henry Wesselkin became the first Governor of Millisia, representing the Christian Democratic Party of Fontasia.

Government

Until the beginning of localized rule in the Kingdom of Fontasia in late 2022, the Governorate of Millisia, as with all Governorates were directly controlled by the Fontasian Royal Government. In most Praetorial elections, the Governorate has varied in Praetorial election political support, siding with the Ergatist Party of Fontasia in the Spring 2022 election, and then the Free Fontasia Party in the Fall 2022 election. As of 2023, there are eight municipalities in the Governorate of Millisia.

As of 2023, there are 11 municipalities in the Governorate of Millisia.

Geography

The Governorate of Millisia is situated on the northwestern to central parts of Assemblia, bordering the United States to the west, north and northeast. It borders the Governorate of Fontasia to the south and Governorate of Isovo to the east. The Governorate of Millisia's defining physical feature is Lake Millis, the largest man-made reservoir in the Kingdom of Fontasia. The Lake is the Governorate's namesake and practically divides the Governorate into two regions, the South Millisian Coast and the northern Sacamo Coast. On the South Millisian Coast, many of the major cities are located. Arinolis, the Governorate's capital lies at the southern part of a large field known as the Plains of Arinolis, which ends at the Lake Millis coast. Just west of the plain lies the Serkell Delta, the outflow of the Brunas River which divides the South Millisian Coast running north to south. East of the Plains of Arinolis is the western slope of Layet Peak, in the neighboring Governorate of Isovo, with the only road connecting the south and north coasts of Millisia. Further west of the Serkell Delta is the expanse of the Osprey Forest, which makes up the rest of the South Millisian coastline. Several small islands lie to the north off the forested coastline, and Osprey Point, a peninsula jutting into the Lake is also in this area. To the south of the Osprey forest lies a continuation of the fertile farmlands along the Nourse River. The Nourse River, technically an extension of the much longer Assabet River runs into Lake Millis at the western end of the South Millisian Coast.

The Sacamo Coast, the northern coastline of Lake Millis in Millisia is far less populated than the southern region of the Governorate. The Assabet River's inflow is located on the northeastern corner of the Lake, at a man-made dam. Moving to the west, the Sacamo Peninsula juts out into the Lake, nearly dividing it into two separate ponds. Fredman Island, a detached portion of the peninsula is located only a few yards off the southern tip of the peninsula. To the west of the peninsula is a forested uncharted coastline, that barely connects to the more northern Hoccomonco Pond. Moving inland northwards, there is a train station not far from the Fontasian border at Hobomok, making the area extremely strategic. To the east, the Viskara municipality extends into an unknown woodland along the Assabet River.

The climate of Millisia is the same as all Assemblian regions.

Culture

Millisia mostly has mainstream Fontasian culture, with some instances of Fletovian culture, which for the most part has been assimilated. Hiking is a major recreational activity, with the Governorate having several national parks in its forested areas.
