Oath or affirmation
Although no document states this it is common practice in the NAC that before entering upon the functions of his or her office, the Governor must take the oath of allegiance and the oath of office. The wording for the oath of office is as practiced is:
I, name, do swear (or solemnly affirm) that I will well and truly serve His Imperial and Royal Majesty Emperor William the First, His Heirs and Successors, and the people of the Oahu Colony, and will uphold the laws in force in the Oahu colony, in the office of Governor. (So help me God.)
