Gardenland, originally the Principality of Gardenland (Portuguese: Principado de Gardenland) it was a micronation enclaved micronation located in South America, bordering Brazil. Portuguese is the national language. In 2020, the micronation was created proclaiming its independence from Brazil. Founded by André Igino Chalegre. a former micronationalist, Gardenland was defined as a absolute monarchy.[1] It was reformed into the State of Xingu on 15 April 2022 and later reformed as "State of Ambé" in Federal Republic of Arapuja
Etymology
The country's proper name comes from the English, garden and land, in reference to the nature that surround the kingdom.
History
Gardenland emerged from successive negotiations and creative processes of its founders on 26 December 2020, and had its structure readjusted on 8 January 2021 as we know today. At the beginning, national borders were defined, and the claimed territory is that of a region known as Igarapé Ambé, in Altamira, State of Pará, Federative Republic of Brazil.
However, its most ancestral origin dates back to the year 2017, with the formation of a virtualist micronation called the Principality of Lourensia, ruled by our current monarch, inspired by the work of the United Provinces of Mauritia, the micronation that received it and that introduced our founder to micronationalism.
Having taken on a variety of prestigious positions in that micronation, such as the title of Baron, decorated as the First Knight of the Royal Order of Barlæus, Governor-General of Province, Commander of the Secret Service and, below the Stadhouder of Mauritia, the most senior military officer from the Armed Forces, he chose to follow his own path and decided to found his own project.
Lourensia was founded and had this name based on how it was known in Mauritia: Lowrens. The Principality would become part of the Kingdom of Manso in 2018, reformed as an Archduchy, while the founder was the only high-ranking nobleman not to belong to the reigning family. However, that same year, the Archduchy declared independence, but due to insufficient activities, it ended up being disabled.
What connects these two projects, in addition to the founder, is geography. Lourensia was located on the island of Arapujá, which is three kilometers from the current national territory of Gardenland. In a way, Lourensia and Gardenland are sister projects, created by the same person at different times and in different places, albeit close.[2]
Geography
Gardenland has its territory divided between the Royal District of Oliveira, formed by the streets of Travessa da Concórdia; the Duchy of Aparecida, formed by Bosque and Aparecida Square; the Duchy of Ambé, formed by the northern part of Ambé and adjacent uninhabited areas; and the Grand Duchy of Xingu, formed by all areas close to the Xingu River and other border areas with the Igarapé Altamira.
The national capital is the Royal District of Oliveira, or Royal District as it is more commonly referred to, and its main building is the seat of the monarchy and of the moderating power, the Palace of the Sunflowers.[3]
Politics
Political activity in the Kingdom of Gardenland is led by the Moderating Power, invested in the figure of His Majesty, the King, whose function is to guarantee the perfect functioning of the State and to allow harmony between the powers. Thus, the head of the Moderating Power, that is, the King, is in fact the Head of State of the Nation. Its headquarters is the Palace of the Sunflowers, the seat of the monarchy.
The head of government, in turn, is exercised by the High Chancellor from the Palace of the Chancellery. Assisting the High Chancellor in the good and impeccable administration of the Kingdom, is the Legislative Power, constituted by the Royal Council of Nobles.[4]
