Montblanc, officially the Free Monarchical State of Montblanc and San Joan (in Spanish: Libre Estado Monárquico de Montblanc y San Joan, in Montblancqi: Libero Monarca Istato d'Montblanc eu San Joan) was a short-lived micronation in the Valtir Sector with fictitious tendencies. Founded on 25 May 2011, it succeded the Holy Dussesh Empire and was dissolved on 5 June 2011 with the creation of the Berinese Confederation.

It was the last of the 2011 Valtirian micronations to contain elements of fantasy and sockpuppeting, and the first to have Tarik Kârjasary as its nominal leader, as King of Montblanc.

History

Montblanc was the official successor of the Holy Dussesh Empire. The word "Montblanc" is of Catalan origin, meaning "white mountain", and it attempted to represent the mountains of the Venezuelan Andes. "San Joan" is the Catalan counterpart of "San Juan", the patron saint of the micronation. Like with its predecessor, a fictitious backstory was invented to justify the creation of the unstable Kingdom of Montblanc, which later became the Free Monarchial State of Montblanc and San Joan. Montblanc claimed several states in the Venezuelan west. The Protector of Montblanc had the "constitutional" power to decide which macronation, partially recognized state or micronation Montblanc can recognize.

On 5 June 2011, it was agreed Montblanc would be dissolved and the Berinese Confederation would be created instead. The Berinese Confederation was the first of the Garrshirian sector micronations to be sockpuppeting-free.

Politics

The Montblancqi government was a semi-absolute monarchy or semi-constitutional monarchy. The Protector, formerly known as King, was the head of state, while the Prime Minister was the head of government. As a semi-constitutional monarchy, the Protector had limitated power in Montblancqi politics. Montblanc was the first of the Garrshirian micronatins to count with a legislature, although due to the micronation's nature it was entirely fictitious. The Montblancqi legislature was known as the Parliament of San Alejandro or Parliament in San Alejandro. It claimed to have eight members including the President or Speaker of the Parliament. The structure of the parliament was secret and the members were confidential, although they never existed.

Political divisions

The Free Monarchical State of Montblanc and San Joan was divided in two Greater Provinces (in Spanish: Grandes Provincias), the bigger one, Montblanc, and the smaller one, San Joan. The greater provinces were divided in Provinces (in Spanish: Provincia), in total, Montblanc had nine provinces:

• Dánae Primero Province, in the Greater Province of Montblanc.
• Nueva Argentina Province, in the Greater Province of Montblanc.

• Yaracuy Province, in the Greater Province of San Joan.
• Emperadores Province, in the Greater Province of San Joan.
• Manzanares Province, in the Greater Province of Montblanc.
