Forty Eighth Amendment on a Common Union

A popular referendum to enact the Forty Eighth Amendment, proposing to change the official long name of Easway from the Realm of Easway to the Common Union of Easway, took place between the 28 and the 31 January 2023, following an Assembly-vote which took place between the 18 and 20 January, and passed with 6 votes in favour and 2 against. The referendum resulted in a victory for the Common Union side and Easway was officially renamed to the Common Union of Easway on the 31 January 2023.[1]

The results were announced on 29 January 2023 showing a majority for the Common(s) Union side, with 90 votes altogether (64.29%), with 70 showing preference for Common Union and 20 for Commons Union. The side voting to remain as the Realm of Easway received 50 votes (35.71). As there was no absolute majority, a run-off direct election of the All Popular Committee was called, whereby Common Union received 89 votes and Commons Union received 11. With the meeting concluded, the National Electoral Commission announced the new official name of Easway as the Common Union of Easway on Bear Island and the Pomors Frontier. [1][2]
