The U.D.O.M is known for many things (it's vast successes in warfare and ability to remain neutral while others fight, and it's just an overall great place to be! but one thing about it is underrated, it's food culture.

History of Food in the United Districts of Macawainia

The U.D.O.M has an extremely rich food culture, starting with the simple au (ah-oo). The au (Eckro in Daskan) is a piece of bread, smothered with peanut butter, sunbutter, jelly, ketchup, or beef) topped with a flour tortilla (the tortilla was inherited from the Mexican emigrants who made burritos, the Macawainians saw them using tortillas and purchased some from them to use in their own recipes. No one really knows who invented the au, but U.D.O.M settlers say that one man placed a piece of bread with beef on it, atop the tortilla and said "look, I've got everyone a nice recipe right here!" but there is no confirmation that was ever said. It is most likely just an old folktale used to entertain people learning to make the food.

Macawainian food comes from humble beginnings.

The food you'll find in the U.D.O.M, most likely originated from humble, polite, or generous inventors, that made the food with love and created simply amazing food anyone can enjoy. The Au is only one example of this, with other foods, like the Rinesta (an Au with 2 pieces of bread on the tortilla, sometimes called an Au sandwich), or the Substa (Sometimes called a reverse Au, instead of bead on top, it's bread on bottom and can be made with beef only). The Rinsta, came from Macawainian baker Aled Kentroga (Kent-a-rouge-a) who gave them to the homeless for free, and the Substa came from another Macawainian baker who wanted to be funny and reversed an Au. He later gave them to small local businesses for staff to eat.

Foods that aren't Au variations

Macawainian foods sometimes have heavy usage of different kinds of cheeses, most popularly mozzarella and Colby Jack. The Macawainian Cheese Roll is a staple food in most Macawainian cities, especially larger ones like Greenfield. Rotekye is a type of soup made from cheese, ramen noodles, and crushed tortilla chips.
