The Republic of Bagsawa (Filipino: Republika ng Bagsawa) was a micronation located in the Philippines which was established in 2013.

History

Okasakawa, derived from the combination of Osaka and Okinawa in Japan, has an intriguing history. However, it is important to note that according to the founder of the Okasakawa name, former President Andreus, its formation was purely conceptual and accidental in nature.

Prior to the establishment of Okasakawa, there were notable governmental entities in its history. Santan or Brgy.123, founded in August 2013 by former first President Dominicus II, holds the distinction of being one of the earliest recorded governments in Okasakawa's annals. The official establishment of Santan was marked by the display of the white flag, serving as a symbol of the republic's foundation.

Following the decline of Santan or Brgy.123 in 2017, the Ibarra Society or Republic emerged. The demise of Santan can be attributed, in part, to the disintegration of its members and the leadership crisis under President Jacobus, which occurred between 2016 and 2017.

However, the years following the fall of Santan were fraught with challenges as internal conflicts arose within the Ibarra Society. These conflicts significantly impacted the administration of former President Lijan, resulting in his defeat in the presidential race against Former President Han in 2018. Subsequently, on December 8, 2019, Prime Minister Angelus more than two-year tenure came to an end, making way for the current Prime Minister Han to assume the position of leadership in Okasakawa.

Timeline of leaders

The names of the former's and currenly leaders of okasakawa were deliberately given by the government of okasakawa under the law "Cognomen's act of 2022"[1] which aims to protect the privacy of the name of the leaders of the country.

Foreign relations

The initiation of Okasakawa's diplomatic endeavors with numerous micronations commenced in 2020, during the administration of President Andreus, and presently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Angelus I, spearheads these efforts.

At present, Okasakawa maintains diplomatic relations with six active micronations. Regrettably, diplomatic relations with two micronations that were formerly engaged with Okasakawa have been rescinded due to diverse reasons.

In July 2021, President Angelus made the decision to temporarily suspend negotiations and the establishment of diplomatic agreements with other micronations. Despite stepping down from the presidency, Angelus continues to assume leadership in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having been appointed by President Benedicto. It is noteworthy that Okasakawa remains closed to engaging in new diplomatic ventures at present.

  • Narra-Yakal - formerly an independent nation, underwent a process of unification under the leadership of President Lemuel, orchestrated by his efforts. However, in 2017, Okasakawa came to assume governance over Narra-Yakal, with the then Prime Minister of Okasakawa, Angelus I, at the helm. Notwithstanding this transition, an agreement was reached between Angelus I and Lemuel, stipulating that Lemuel would retain his position as the President of Narra-Yakal. Nonetheless, as the year 2021 unfolded, Okasakawa made the decision to completely relinquish control over Narra-Yakal, granting it full autonomy and freedom. Consequently, Narra-Yakal was liberated from Okasakawa's governance, symbolizing the restoration of its sovereignty.

2020

  • Damoong - situated within the Iloilo region of the Philippines, held significance in its association with Okasakawa. Initially governed by Joshua Consular, he was subsequently designated as Damoong's president under Okasakawa's administration. In August 2020, Damoong integrated itself into Okasakawa, assuming a subordinate position within its framework. However, owing to misunderstandings that arose between the involved parties, Damoong was granted complete independence in September 2020, thereby severing its ties with Okasakawa.

2021

  • Indokawa - situated in the Northern Sulawesi province of Indonesia, holds its presence within the purview of Okasakawa. Under the leadership of an Indonesian governor general, Nico Panelewen, who was appointed by Okasakawa President Andreus, Indokawa operates within a predetermined structure. On the notable date of February 6, 2021, Indokawa underwent a transformation, transitioning from a state of subjugation to a fully integrated entity within Okasakawa. The precise date marking its separation from the Okasakawa micronation, however, remains undisclosed.
