Montania was a constituent state of Amager

The Federal Republic of Montania was the first incarnation of the Montanian state. It was established by Vera Hewitt on 28 January 2013, after the dissolution of what is now known as the Predecessor State. For the majority of its existence, it was a constituent nation of the Confederation of Saint Luke and Amager.

Etymology

The name "Montania" is derived from the Spanish word "montaña", meaning "mountain", referring to the Appalachian Mountains which surround the valley that Montania is located within.

History

On 28 January 2013, the Predecessor State dissolved and the Federal Republic of Montania, a Federal Semi-Presidential Constitutional Republic, was established, with Vera Hewitt as acting President and Kaushik Legata as acting Prime Minister. On February 4, 2013, the Congress of the FRM voted to join the Confederation of Saint Luke and Amager, and on February 6th it was admitted into the Confederation. On April 6, 2013 the Confederation of Amager dissolved, and with it the Federal Republic of Montania dissolved, and was succeeded by the Provisional People's Government of Montania.

Government & Politics

The Federal Republic was a federal semi-presidential constitutional republic, with a President and Prime Minister elected yearly by the citizens of Montania. The citizens also elected the Congress, the unicameral legislature of Montania. The President appointed members of the Supreme Court, the highest legislative body in Montania, for life. Although Montania allowed for numerous parties to take part in government, the government was dominated by the Labour Party of Amager, of which the then President and Prime Minister Vera Hewitt was Second Secretary.

Culture

Montanian culture is highly based on Slavic and German cultures.

Media

The "Richmond Times" of Libereco was quite popular in Montania, as well as news sources from within the United States.
