New Katy, officially designated as the Progressive Republic of New Katy, is an is an American micronational progressive-fascist state located in the southern part of the state of South Texas. It was granted independence after the Katy War on January 14th, 2021.
Etymology
The motto "Gloria Sociis" derives from the latin saying of Glory to Allies. This is in reference to New Katy's long-standing accomplishment during the Katy War, which it was aided by the now dissolved Republic of Galveston. Despite being called a state, it is also considered to be a republic by some.
Context
War for the Republic of Galveston
On Nov 24th, 2021, the Republic of Galveston was invaded by an unknown rebel army, possibly led by Obsidian National Feminist Forces. In a joint statement, both the Republic of Galveston and New Katy formed the Coastal Entente, an alliance which was both militarily and economically run by New Katy. New Katy responded to the attacking forces by sending in some of the most trained armies in the nation. New Katy's aid would prove vital to the war effort. On Nov 31st, Obsidian Forces achieved a breakthrough in the Galvestonian Seawall, sending High Command into a panic. However, under New Katy's dictator Connor Woodson, the 45th Mobilized Noble Brigade and the 67th New Katy Special Forces were bale to resecure the coastal seawall. Combined with the well armed Galvestonians, both nation's armies gave a disastrous blow to Obsidian Forces. The Battle For the Beaches would become its official name, and became a shock to the world to see New Katy, a nation fresh out the womb, preform astonishingly well. On Jan 2nd, 2022, the Ambulatory Free States of Obsidia declared war on the Republic of Galveston and New Katy. High Command began to not panic, but outright insult Obsidia, calling them "fake-egalitarians." On Jan 24, 2022, Obsidian forces were seen sailing into Galveston Harbour. Efficiently, all armies present on the beach were moved into defensive positions. After about 45 minutes, Obsidian landing-boats could be seen. In a famous quote, Connor Woodson said "I am not sure if our defenses will hold, but I'm sure they'll be withered down to a mere company." After a frivolous and violent 5 day battle, all of the original Obsidian forces were either evacuated, captured, dead, or missing. The 2nd Battle For the Beaches would become extremely popular in pop-culture. On Feb 4, after a failed cyber-attack, Obsidia sued for peace.
Breakup of the Republic of Galveston
On Mar 3, 2022, it was announced that due to mounting unrest, low wages, and a brutal tyrant, the Republic of Galveston would officially be put in the hands of New Katy. Reportedly, President Connor Woodson began to cry after hearing the news. He vowed to do the best he could to help. Connor decided to create three districts of Galveston, which would become Nova Galvestia, Beaches Republic, and Saltwater State. All unanimously voted in favor of vassalization by New Katy. Today, all three Sister Republics are under the Rememberance Union, dedicated to the Republic of Galveston's then capital, Rememberance.
First Election
On Mar 17, 2022, New Katy held its first-ever election. The candidates were from the Rebuild Galveston party, the Democratic Party, and the "Continuation Party. The Rebuild Galveston party, if elected, would present a new, unified Galveston. This was widely unpopular among the country due to New Katy's extremely close bonds with the Union. The Democratic Party wished to turn New Katy into a full democracy. They were reviewed as mediocre. The Continuation Party was led by Connor Woodson, and like the name suggests, would keep the current party. They were met with an uproar of support. By an electoral college landslide, the Continuation Party remained in power. In the usual speech, Connor Woodson proclaimed the creation of two new bills. The first was the Foreign Open Act, which would allow nations to submit applications for review from High Command about recognition/relations. The second was the Corkscrew Act which stated that the military would be extended to an Airforce and a Navy.
