Mygdonia is an Exarchate of the Empire of Imvrassia. It was established on 1 May 2013 as a sovereign Kingdom under the name of New Byzantium. On 17 June 2016 New Byzantium was put under Protectorate of the Kingdom of Imvrassia and the same day became a member of the Commonwealth of Hellenic Micronations. On 30 December 2019 it was annexed to Imvrassia. By Imperial Degree on 1 January 2022 it was renaimed to Mygdonia, an ancient territory-part of Ancient Thrace, which comprised the plains around Thessalonica. On 16 June 2023 a partial revision of the Constitution took place and more specifically changes in the administrative division of the Empire and the Province remains the only administrative division and so Mygdonia granted the status of a Province. From 20 February 2024 Mygdonia granted the status of an Exarchate again.

Government & politics

The government of Migdonia as a Kingdom was a Federal Constitutional Elective Monarchy. The head of the state was the King. The King was elected by the Royal Elective Synod (R.E.S). The R.E.S consists 9 Despots (despótēs',"lords",greek Δεσπότης). The legislative and administrative authority was the King and the Chancellery of the State. The head of the Chancellery was the Chancellor of the State. The chancellery includes the foreign secretariat , the interior and justice secretariat, the expansion secretariat and finally one royal representative. The Chancellery of State had been elected by the people and appointed by the King. After the administrative reorganization of 1 January 2020 the Exarchate has administratively subordinate to the Praetorian Prefecture of Thracia and from 01 June 2022 it is part of the Praetorian Prefecture of Elladia.
