The mother of Matthias I, Empress Dowager Michelle Pettipas was born on 19 November 1964, in Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. The Empress Dowager, while not attending court, oversees the governance of the Suzuka, Kiyama, and Colebrook islands on her son's behalf.
