The Duchy has been created as a Socio-Cultural projet based on the links between Germany and France at the begining of the XIX Century.

History

The Duchy of Wursberg was founded on the 16th of October 2016 with the Treaty of Koenighoff. This Treaty has been created and signed by the Prince of Surland. The Duchy of Wursberg is created as the semi-automous micronation from the Principality of Surland (before the Consulat of Surland) .The Duchy is organized as constitutional monarchy, with a Duke as the head of the state.

Only 11 days after the creation of the Duchy as an autonomus region of the Principality of Surland, the 28 October 2016, the Duchy hold a referendum, to become a independent micronation.

The 30 of October, the Duchy declared it independance and started to structure itself.

The 5th of February, the Duke signed the constitution of the Duchy. The Constitution is based on the treaty of Koenighoff spirit and respect the terms. This step makes the Duchy ready to go futher in his own developpment, with a strong base.

The 19th of April 2018, the Duke has decided to change the territorial claims of the Duchy for the Saint Brendan Island. The Duchy is not anymore connected to a european land.

The 19th of May 2018, the constitution has been updated to give more power to the Duke.Even if the power in the hands of the Duke are growing, the Duchy is still a constututional monarchy. The separation of power is limited by the constitution. Anyway, all the liberties and the rights of people are protected.

Government and politics

The Duchy of Wursberg even if it's a part of the Principality of Surland, is a almost automous about every things. The Duke is in the head of the government and appoint ministers. The parliament is elected by people by direct election. The treaty gives all the basic legal frame for the laws, government organization, and basic rights. The Duchy has the obligation to follow the people rights from the constitution of Surland. The Surland gives protection to the Duchy as a, independent autonomus region. The Principality of Surland has the power to check the laws edited in the Duchy, if they go against the people rights, the Principality of Surland can censore them. this control is the only right that the Principality of Surland has on the Duchy of Wursberg. The Duke and the government are free to have the policy that they wish. The Wursberg has the possibility to become totaly independent by referendum. The Duchy has the will to have a different policy that the Principality even if both has the same values. And a different way in the construction and approch of the politic, diplomatic relation and power.

Independance of Duchy

After the independance of the Duchy, is treaty of Koenighoff is enough precise to be used as fondamental law even after the fact that the Duchy is a micronation independent of the Principality of Surland. This case of was mentioned in the treaty. The promclamation of independance precises that all the rights and organisation of power are the same that those written in the treaty.

Law and order

The basic law of the Duchy of Wursberg is the treaty of Koenighoff, which explain the basic rights of people and the organization of the government. The duchy is following the basic laws of Surland but edit it owns laws, by decrees from the Duke or by laws from the Parliament. The Duchy promots the equality between people, opinion, religion and way of life. The limits are that it is not possible to promot hate or difference.

Organisation of Nobility

The Duchy of Wursberg is organized as a german duchy. The ranks of nobility are  :

  • Duke
  • Count
  • Baron
  • Lord

Princes in the german nobility are under the rank of Duke and above the rank of Marquess. Principalities can be sovereign or not. In the treaty of Koenighoff the Principality of Surland is considerated as a grand principality ( equal to a grand duchy ) wich means that the Prince of Surland is above of the Duke of Wursberg. This makes the link between the organisation of noble titles between the Duchy of Wursberg and the Principality of Surland.

The Duke of Wursberg

The Duke of Wursberg is at the head of the Duchy as sovereign ruler. The Title of Duke of Wursberg has been granted to the House of Würschingen at the creation of the Duchy.

Culture

The Duchy of Wursberg is inspired by the german culture after the end of the Holy Roman Empire. The organization and the noblity is directly inspired by the Confederation of Rhine which means that there is a strong french culture too. Especialy about the ideas of rights and liberties. This gives a good balance between monarchy and abolition of privileges, between history and modernity.

As Protestantism does not recognize saints, the duchy does not have any patron saint.
