The Warlord State of Zhangdao, more commonly known as Zhangdao is a micronation located Long Island, New York (as well as the New York metropolitan area), being a protectorate of the Ausverian Volksrepublik. Zhangdao is made up of a 100% ethnic Chinese population, with its official ideology being that of a fascistic-depot warlord state, with no law enforcement, consitution, laws, or even governing bodies (aside from the warlordist militia and the TNSP). Led by Samuel W. as its appointed warlord, it is notorious for its frequent civil conflicts over resources, commonly known as Resource Wars, between the various influential families that live in the area (of which function as criminal cartels and familial gangs).

Etymology

Zhangdao (Chinese: 張島), literally meaning "long island" in Chinese comes from the geography of Long Island, where Zhangdao is located.

History

Formed out of the ashes of the Second Ausverian Civil War, Samuel W., the former leader of National Ausveria was granted his own state with the former territories of National Ausveria on 11 February 2023 by Ausverian Chancellor Fredrick M., forming the Warlord State of Zhangdao, a Chinese ethnostate with no laws or sense of order other than the militia led by Warlord Samuel W.

Government and Factions

Zhangdao is ruled by a warlord and his well-trained and armed, Ausverian-backed militia, however there are several major and minor criminal organization functioning within its borders that frequently cause civil conflicts.

Government:

Zhangdao Sacrificial Corps - The official militia of Zhangdao, it rules with impunity, and is the strongest force in the country. The name comes from the Chinese cultural belief that self-sacrifice is the strongest weapon in the world (i.e. suicidal loyalty and willingness to partake in suicidal missions and campaigns) It is well-armed with full access to various small arms, of which are supplied by the Ausverian Volksrepublik or bought from other suppliers. It often works with the Wei Family to suppress the other criminal organizations and gangs, seeing as the Wei Family is rumored to be a supplier of small arms and equipment to the militia.
T.N.S.P. - The Ausverian secret police is allowed to function in Zhangdao as a form of rooting out political enemies of the warlord state and to enforce its own interests. While not involved in criminal activity, the TNSP is rumored to be arming the National Bandit Party as an alternative to the Zhangdao Warlord forces as an alternative puppet in the region in case the militia turns on Ausveria due to the questionable loyalty of Warlord Samuel W. and his supporters to Ausveria.

Illegal:

Wei Family - The most influential family in Zhangdao, it is often a major backer of the Zhangdao government however at times can be at odds with its overlords. The Wei Family is made up of various religious and political factions (Including but not limited to fascism, Dengist-Jinpingism, Christianity, Chinese folk religion, and ethnic ultranationalism) but does not have much infighting. The Wei family follows a strict code of ethics, similar to the Bushido code in Japan, as the Wei Family refuses to be involved in drugs, prostitution, or any sexual criminal activities, rather it is more involved in the illegal weapons trade, as well as in tobacco products. The Wei Family controls the New Shanghai Territories located in Chinatown of New York, but are rivaled by the Zhang Family who also have assets in the region.
Zhang Family - A rather minor but extremely brutal familial cartel, it is in a constant state of war with the more influential Wei Family over water supplies. Unlike the Wei Family, the Zhang Family fully advocate for Maoist communism and seek to establish an authoritarian communist state with itself as the only governmental force, legal and illegal. It is rumored that the Zhang Family is involved in the heroin and opium trade.
National Bandit Party - A coalition of bandits acting as a decentralized political movement whom advocate for Banditism being the basis of the Zhangdao economy, however due to the decentralized nature of the movement it is in a constant state of infighting (not to mention competition for resources between the various gangs), with its decentralized nature also making it hard for warlordist and TNSP forces to fully eradicate the gang. However when the government or the other families threaten it, it can unite as a coalition force capable of challenging even the warlord militia

Government Officials

Junfa {軍閥), literally meaning "Warlord" in Chinese is the head of state and the only form of "legal" government within Zhangdao. The current junfa, Samuel W., functions as a despot, essentially ruling everything with an iron fist, while leaving the citizens to their own devices. It is unknown whether the popularity of familial crime families and banditry, and lack of general law and order in Zhangdao is a result of incompetence, or general apathy by the Junfa.

Factions

Flag/Symbol Name Leader Ideology
Wei Family Wei Patriarch Dengist-Jinpingism (Official)
Fascism, Christianity, Chinese folk religion, ethnic ultranationalism (Factions)
Zhang Family Zhang Patriarch Maoism, Anti-Revisionism
National Bandit Party None National-Banditism

Law and order

There is no law enforcement in Zhangdao, other than the T.N.S.P. of Ausveria, which work to purge anti-Ausverian and anti-warlord sentiment.

Foreign relations

Zhangdao generally does not have foreign relations other than with Ausveria and is a participant in the Einheitspakt alliance

Admnistrative regions

Zhangdao has two classifications of administrative regions, provinces, and territories. Provinces have more political rights and more stable which makes them fit for warlordist forces to consider them "capitals" and most of the militias are stationed around them. Territories are generally less stable and run by familial crime families rather than the warlordist militias.

Territory
New Shanghai Territories 2 February 2023 5 Chinatown, New York, New York

Economy

The Zhangdao economy is based around the export and import of flags (mostly historical, Ausverian, or Zhangdaoan), firearms (real and airsoft). However with the lack of law and order, many Zhangdaoans have turned to organized crime and banditry to make a living, fighting of natural resources such as water sources and air conditioning, however some of the more major crime families dominate both the legal and illegal trade ranging from food to drugs.

Culture

Zhangdao has a large Chinese culture, most of its linguistic dialects, food, and entertainment coming from the Chinese provinces of Hunan, Fujian, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. The most popular apps, websites, and television watched by Zhangdao citizens come directly from China, with the Chinese company CCTV being the most popular television broadcaster watched in Zhangdao. Zhangdao citizens consider themselves more Chinese rather than Chinese separatists, and as Chinese nationalists (not related to the KMT) do not consider themselves influenced or even relatable to most Americans, regarding the CPC as China's true ruler. However, even with Chinese being the most popular language spoken in the region, being a protectorate of the Ausverian Volksrepublik has introduced some German influence in the culture.
