Use this guide with common sense and read it thoroughly; your article should be based on this guide but should not copy it verbatim. Source editing is greatly preferred over Visual Editing, as Visual Editor adds unnecessary elements to pages. Editing this guide in source will also help you familiarize yourself with wikitext and will allow you to see important technical functions that visual editor will omit.
- Anything surrounded by <nowiki></nowiki> will force the software to display plain text. Remove it wherever it appears in this guide.
- Parts of this guide intended to be filled in with your own info will be encased in single curly brackets: {example}
- Text surrounded by <!-- and --> is a comment. These will tell the software to not include the enclosed content on the page entirely, and are present to help you as you're editing the page in source. Remove it after you have completed filling in the infobox and adding categories.

Shanta, officially the Shantan Republic, is a micronation located in Dripping Springs, Texas. Established in 2024, the nation's history is quite
short, but the idea to break away from the USA began in 2023. The monarchy of Bing Xilingia almost made it, but due to political and economic
issues, it couldn't stay together. Afterwards, a new Republic began in 2024, with Samyak Gnawali, Tyler Bierman, and Henry Lees as its leaders.
Other micronations, such as the Oligarchy of Hiperia, are now helping the tiny country get on it's feet. Political alliances have not been settled
yet, but the Prime Minister has sent out a memo to the leader of Ironland.

Etymology
The name, Shantan Republic is derive from the Sanskrit word, Shantih, for peace. It was orignially supposed to be named the Monarchy of Bing Xilingia, but the government collapsed on that one. It was then intended to be called Dhaulgiri Shanta, but the name didn't stick. The reason behind that name was the mountain range of Nepal known as the Dhaulgiri Mountains. The name was long, so the name was shortened down to the Shantan Republic, then after a lot of debate over etymology, it finally came to be called Shanta, officially the Shantan Republic.
History
The Shantan Republic declared independence on August 5, 2024, but its roots can be traced back to the late Fall of 2023. At that time, a group of friends envisioned creating a micronation, which was initially intended to be called the Monarchy of Bing Xilingia. This idea was fueled by a shared interest in the concept of nation-building and self-governance. However, despite the enthusiasm, the group lacked the commitment to formalize their plans, resulting in the Monarchy of Bing Xilingia remaining an unexecuted concept.
As the months passed, the notion of a micronation lingered in the mind of Samyak, one of the group's members. In early 2024, after reflecting on the memories and aspirations associated with the original idea, Samyak recognized an opportunity to revisit the concept. Inspired by past discussions and the desire for a structured community, they sought to create a new micronation that would learn from the mistakes of the earlier attempt.
Initially, Samyak considered adopting a communist ideology for the government, believing it could foster a strong sense of community and promote equality among its citizens. This ideological framework aimed to prioritize collective well-being over individual gain, appealing to the original vision of unity and shared purpose.
However, as discussions evolved and input from potential citizens was gathered, it became evident that a more inclusive and democratic governance structure would better serve the diverse interests and aspirations of the future citizens of the Shantan Republic. This shift in perspective led to the formulation of a constitution that emphasized democratic principles, individual rights, and active citizen participation.
In developing this new framework, Samyak aimed to balance the ideals of community and equality with the need for personal freedoms and responsibilities. This comprehensive approach set the foundation for the establishment of the Shantan Republic, ensuring that it would be a resilient and adaptable nation capable of addressing the complexities of modern governance.
The Republic's declaration on August 5, 2024, marked a significant milestone in its journey, symbolizing a fresh start and a commitment to building a cohesive society. With its unique history and aspirations, the Shantan Republic stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of creativity and collaboration among its founders.
Politics and government
The Shantan Republic is structured as a parliamentary democracy, reflecting the principles of an Indian-style republic. It features a bicameral legislature composed of an upper house and a lower house, where representatives are elected by the citizens to voice their interests and concerns. The head of state, serving primarily as a ceremonial figure, is distinct from the head of government, who is responsible for executing laws and policies. This division ensures a system of checks and balances, promoting accountability within the government. The Republic upholds the rule of law, protecting the rights and freedoms of its citizens through a constitution that guarantees fundamental rights. Local governance is also emphasized, with elected representatives at the community level empowering citizens to participate actively in decision-making processes. Overall, the political framework of the Shantan Republic is designed to promote democratic values, encourage civic engagement, and maintain a balance of power among various branches of government.
Early government
{Head of state}
There are three heads of state in the Shantan Republic, all of which are maintained by the system of checks and balances given by the constitution. The main head of state is His Exellency, the Prime Minister, then there is Honored Exellency, and Honored Exellency Foreign Affairs. They each maintain themselves after the writing of the constitution and the ratification in early September.
