The Kingdom of Brestand is a micronation founded le 3 octobre 2021 under the regime of the constitutional monarchy, it is located in the French region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

History
Brestand declares its independence on October 3, 2021 at 6 p.m.
There are two different populations : one is on an immaterial basis (discord) and the other is on a territory. However, the two are only vaguely aware of each other's existence. Two days after the declaration of independence, the Kingdom adopts its constitution and its symbols.
First war of Alphain
On October 12, 2021, Brestand is attacked by the Kingdom of Alphain. King Thermidor I signs the declaration of war at the embassy at 8 p.m.
In a few days, he formed a coalition of four allied micronations (People's Republic of Medici, Republic of Kepronie, Shatidom of Aulpanne and Kingdom of Brestand), baptized "New Entente".
The conflict did not last more than 4 days: Alphain capitulated on October 17 following a destructive attack from Brestand, thanks to his soldier-spy François. The peace treaty is severe (the war being unjustified): Alphain loses 90% of its territory and 50% of its population goes into exile. The Alphanian territory is divided into several occupation zones which pass under the control of the micronations of the New Entente. The Republic of Alphain is proclaimed and is totally ruled by the brestanian power. This State will then be abandoned and officially dissolved by Brestand on November 5, 2021.

Short post-war military dictatorship
The soldier-spy François, then considered the national hero and the winner of the war, wins the general elections under the banner of the Monarchist Party of King Thermidor I. The latter appoints François Prime Minister.
The new Prime Minister obtains full powers under the pretext of having to stabilize the country, supposedly ravaged by war. After what is now considered a military coup, the soldier-spy establishes a terrible dictatorship and removes all power from the monarch, who can no longer regain control of the situation.
Brestand's former New Entente allies (with the exception of the Aulpannian Shatiom) re-unite against the Brestanian military dictatorship and provide logistical support to Thermidor I in order to liberate the digital territory. Aulpanne's refusal to participate in the liberation still has consequences today.
François is fired and exiled.
Political Changes & Aulpanian Conflict
On November 14, under the pretext of having to protect the monarchy which would be in "serious danger" after the fall of the military dictatorship, King Thermidor I, at the request of his "queen" (who is not recognized as such today hui) proclaims the Second Kingdom, allocating all powers to the monarch. This change does not raise any major objections.
At the same time, Aulpanne loses its zone of occupation of Alphain following internal problems. Tensions, which begin with the liberation against the Brestanian dictatorship, reach their peak. King Thermidor I launches a discreet espionage operation against Aulpanne, believing that they were no longer "trustworthy". However, on November 16, a brestanian spy was recognized and arrested in Aulpanne.
King Thermidor I launched a strong protest, demanding the return of this "Brestanian citizen" to Aulpannian digital soil.
On November 17, 2021, Aulpanne signed the declaration of war at the Brestand embassy. Despite a peace treaty signed three days later, hostilities continued for two months until December 5 when Thermidor I, wanting to end this war whatever the cost, provided military support to the Aulpannian communists who took the power that day. The episode baptized "the Aulpannian civil war" then begins, with ever-increasing military and intelligence support from Thermidor I - despite being anti-Communist - to the Aulpannian Communists. "Pokkoli", a former Brestanien (communist), becomes president of the People's Socialist Republic of Aulpanne. He began a policy of violent repression against shatidomists, whom he considered "fascists".
On November 14, the "queen" was condemned for high treason ("cooperation with the enemy" (aulpanniens shatidomistes)) by the king. The latter wants to get rid of its symbols and restore the constitutional monarchy.
Second Alphain War
On December 8, the Alphanien State was proclaimed and declared a new war on Brestand in the name of "national liberation".
Every day there are attacks from the Royal Brestanian Army as the dying Alphain, ill-prepared and isolated, though launching attacks, fails to break through Brestand's defense .
Finally, thanks to the soldier-king Thermidor himself, the Alphain dictatorship is overthrown and peace is signed with the new Government, under the control of a Brestanian close to the royal power.
Imperium: new tougher enemy
On December 18, an outlaw (digital) organization appears and attacks digital micronations, including Brestand in a foiled attack. An intermicronational coalition of 13 micronations is formed : there we find the anti-communist Aulpanian resistance, "communist" Aulpanne, and the micronations of the former New Entente; but the allies lack cooperation. Nevertheless, thanks to an agreement made at the beginning of the conflict, no micronation will capitulate alone against the Imperium despite the continual attacks which do damage: exile of many micronational citizens, causing the weakening the power and morale of these targeted micronations.
While some of them - which have not been attacked - betray the others by taking refuge in isolationism, Brestand fights alone (with the support of the micronations closest to him) this organization, mainly through his information.
The Republic of Thefernus, led by its president Thefern, a friend of Thermidor, is active in the conflict but the latter is bogged down. Thermidor I wanted to gain the upper hand and took the decision to dictate to his closest General, Olivier Brodor, to carry out a coup d'etat in Thefernus so that the latter would be under the direct control of the royal Brestanian power and therefore easy to mobilize for joint attacks. The operation is a total success. This decision remained secret and would only be revealed almost a year later, when the Irène I Report was published.
January 9, 2022 is the date considered as the end of the attacks of the Imperium and as that of the victory of the micronations, including Brestand; despite the fact that no armistice, truce, or peace was signed.
Aulpanne & Brestanian isolationism
At the end of 2021, King Thermidor I turned around and provided military, logistical and intelligence support to the Aulpanian shatidomist resistance, which was still led by the same leader. The Aulpanian resistance pushes the citizens of the People's Socialist Republic of Aulpanne into mass exile with a view to weakening it.
On January 5, "as Thermidor I had foreseen" he would say later, the communist government of Aulpanne collapsed, and lasting peace was established.
The shatidomists regain power with a new leader called "Sebastien Karchevok", who wants to be pacifist and cooperative. Brestand agrees to help Aulpanne and offer him diplomatic support.
However, Brestand is criticized for being a "warlike" and aggressive micronation, due to the conflicts led and all won by Brestand against "ruthless, reactionary and neo-Nazi dictatorships", Thermidor D. will say later. Moreover, the latter argues that these wars were fought not only to protect Brestand, but also to protect the other micronations he cares about.
In this momentum, the Organization of United Francophone Micronations, of which Brestand is one of the founding micronations, excludes the micronation from this Organization.
On January 5, in the general elections, Thermidor I promises "integral" isolationism, with the aim of protecting the country which has "enduring enough just for others", according to him. His party, the Monarchical Party, won the elections and the monarchical Prime Minister implemented this policy, which was highly criticized, especially on the side of physical citizens. However, Thermidor I did not intend to abandon his allied micronations and signed a decree offering a guarantee to Médici, Fronecos and Aulpanne that they would be defended in the event of an attack.
These elections will be marked by the unexpected success of the Brestanien Communist Party (PCB) which won 44% of the votes. Shortly after, King Thermidor I signed the highly contested law on the prohibition of communism and fascism, the PCB renamed itself the "Republican Socialist Party".
Birth of the Republic & Return of the Imperium
On February 7, 2022, the general elections place the Republican Socialist Party in the lead, after a balance sheet deemed "disastrous" for Thermidor. It is the first time since the independence of Brestand that the Monarchical Party does not win the elections.
Prime Minister Julie obtains full powers to "refound the micronation", following which the young Republic of Brestand is proclaimed, placing Julie at the head of the Government as Chancellor, and at the head of the State Thermidor D ., who becomes Constitutional President. The law on the prohibition of communism and fascism is repealed.
On March 25, when the Chancellor is re-elected earlier this month, the Imperium returns. This time, the Government is trying to manage the military situation, but the President and Marshal Thermidor alone take charge of fighting for Brestand by taking control of the entire digital military arsenal.
Julie's Government, having no access to armed force, for its part played the diplomatic card by achieving a historic feat on March 7, 2022 : Brestand joined the Organization of United French-speaking Micronations (OMFU ).
Around March 20, the Brestanian intelligence services unmask Pokkoli, former "communist" president of Aulpanne and Julie, current Chancellor of Brestan, as direct accomplices of the Imperium. Immediately, Thermidor I mobilized the emergency decision to suspend the Chancellor who was then judged and forcibly exiled.
Yet another unwanted war is raging and the people of Brestand show their fierce anger. Thermidor I took the historic decision, on March 25, to "denumerize" Brestand immediately. This news is received as the Messiah by the physical citizens, who then see themselves as the center of attention.
Third Kingdom & Upheaval of the political landscape
As Chancellor Robert R. ascends to power, the political landscape shifts:
- The Republican Socialist Party becomes the Brestanian Communist Party again, which is gaining more and more support
- The Republican Party secedes from the PCB but receives very little support
- The Conservateurs Brestaniens party secedes from the Monarchic Party, which has itself become the Liberal-Conservative Party, which is witnessing a radicalization by being now classified, it and its president Thermidor D., on the far right.
The Republic is brought down by the Brestanian Conservative royalists who win the elections on June 8. Immediately, the democratic constitutional monarchy was restored and King Raphael I ascended the throne.
The drift to the extreme right of Thermidor becomes flagrant when it narrowly passes a law deemed "homophobic", which finally receives a veto from the king. In an attempt to unite the conservatives despite everything, King Raphael I attempted a reconciliation with Thermidor D., to whom he offered him the post of Marshal of the Nation, Chief of Staff and Supreme Commander of the National Guard, later renamed Garde royal.
The king realizes his irreversible mistake when Marshal Thermudor uses the Royal Guard to stir up political violence. On July 15, he illegally imposes on the king, by means of the Royal Guard which supports him, to abdicate and Thermidor I becomes king again. He imposes an absolute monarchy that will last 5 months : the royal and military dictatorship begins. A cult of personality tries to set itself up: July 15, the day of the Thermidor coup, is proclaimed the second National Day of Brestan.
The royal dictatorship is also reactionary and discriminatory: homosexuality becomes illegal on August 30, 2022.
Tensions with Neustria: on the brink of a new war
On August 28, Thermidor I personally attacked the recently elected Prime Minister of the Principality of Neustria, demanding his resignation. The Neustrian Prime Minister responds courageously and loyally, to which the King responds by threatening to go to war against the Principality to "fight against the decadence of France", alluding to the bisexuality of the Neustrian Prime Minister, Wildrid Orochi.
Thermidor I announces military exercises in order to intimidate Neustria, which closes its borders and establishes a state of emergency. The Republic of Fiera of President Rocco Venti and the Shatidom of Aulpanne of shatidan Sebastien Karchevok intervene as mediators and persuade Thermidor I to sign the Labor Accords - bearing the name of the Brestanian autonomous region - ending the crisis.
However, King Thermidor breaks his commitments and attacks the Republic of Fiera and the Principality of Neustria without a declaration of war on September 26, 2022, yet eliciting no response from these two micronations. Neustria will describe this attack as an "attack" and Fiera as "irreversible acts".
End of the Thermidorian era
October 3, 2022: one year to the day that Brestand is a micronation, its population peacefully demands the end of the dictatorship and political and societal modernization. King Thermidor accepts but does not keep his promises.
Finally, a Citizen College illegally votes, on November 23, 2022, for Thermidor's abdication and his definitive end to his duties as head of state. The provisional government of democratic transition is formed, headed by the communist Victor M., who organizes elections thanks to which Irène F. is elected Regent of the Kingdom with 57.3% of the votes against Thermidor D. First female head of state of the History of Brestand. Thermidor D. loses his title of Marshal and the law on the illegality of homosexuality is repealed.
On December 29, 2022, Thermidor D. announces his imminent move and that he will have to permanently sever ties with Brestand, the micronation of which he is the founder.
On January 1, 2023, the Regent Irene F. publishes the Irene I Report, declassifying a large number of state secrets concerning Thermidor D. to expose the excesses of it. This symbolic date marks the entry into a new era, which begins on the very first day of the year 2023.
Territory
The territory of Brestand is small, it is 1.07km, 6 times less than Aulpanne or 8 times less than Fronecos. However, it has a lot of resources and is located in an easy to exploit area, the territory has evolved a lot since October 3, 2021.
Inter-micronational relations
Brestanian foreign policy will be completely reoriented during the tenure of Regent Irene F.
Economy
The monetary currency of Brestand is the Brestin. However, it is no longer used for much except for cultural events or during the summer; but in winter, shops remain closed and the economy is frozen - in every sense of the word - the real official currency used in Brestand is the Euro, because Brestand produces little and buys a lot outdoors. A single tax, introduced during the Thermidorian dictatorship, is in force in Brestand.
