The Newtonian Empire is a dictatorial micronation located on Long Island, founded on March first, 2023 by Zane Ayim. The micronation is a one-party, Christian theocracy. It has sometimes been described as an authoritarian black separatist state. The micronation is located on Long Island, New York.

Etymology

The Empire is named after Huey P. Newton, a Black Nationalist and co-founder of the Black Panther Party.

History

The Empire of Newtonia was formally founded on 2 March 2023. The micronation was influenced into formation due to the events of the Ausverian Civil War of 2022-2023, in which the far-right, racist micronation of National Ausveria was founded. It began to reach out to several micronations on Long Island in attempts at diplomacy, joining the Discord server of the Assembly of Long Island Micronations on 3 March. This however would result in tensions in the region rising, specifically with the Republic of Malus and the Kingdom of Nissequogue, due to both nations having land claims that the empire desired.

Expansion Era

The constitution of Newtonia was created on March 5.^[1] Soon after, the empire would find itself entering an era of expansion, as it declared war on the Republic of Malus the following day. This was due to tensions rising over the territory of Eaton's Neck, which both micronations claimed. The declaration cited this dispute, along with the "persecution of the Zamint people and elevation of Satanism" in the region as reasons to declare war on the republic. This brought the empire closer to Malus' historical enemies, those being the Ausverian Volksrepublik and potentially members of the former alliance that fought against Malus in the Veterans Park War. During the war, Emperor Ayim began the creation of the Imperial Assembly, which would assist him in the war effort. Despite the sole ruling party of Newtonia being the AFUN Party, non-Zamints would be allowed to join, due to the early stages of the empire.

Politics and government

The Empire of Newtonia is a Christian dictatorship, heavily influenced by the ideology of Komi Gagnon, the creator of AFUNism. The dictator, Zane Ayim, is the central and total authority of the micronation.

Emperor

The Emperor of Newtonia is the sole head of state. The position was established on 2 March, 2023. The Emperor has total and complete power over the micronation, being able to approve, veto, or alter any legislation passed by the Imperial Court.

Assembly

The Imperial Assembly is the legislative branch of Newtonia. The assembly has the power to pass laws, approve budgets, and declare war. The Emperor gets the final say over all decisions. Members are appointed by the emperor.

Law and order

The Imperial Court is the supreme court of The Newtonian Empire, holding the power to interpret the constitution and adjudicate legal disputes. It was established on the third of March, 2023, and is expected to be fully operational when citizenship increases.

Military

The military, known as the Newtonian Guard, is tasked with protecting the empire. They are a mostly defensive force, as the foreign policy of Newtonia is focused inward.

Culture

The culture of Newtonia is very Black Nationalist, with the pervasive idea among citizens being that all Pan-African people "Zamints" should be united in culture and actions. The spirit of Newtonia is very "pan-africanist", but also Black Nationalist, believing that their nation should serve as a safe place for Black citizens. This is reflected in the culture of Newtonia, with holidays such as Kwanzaa being a popular celebration.
