David Massarde is the Deputy Chairman and Propaganda Minister of the Federated Republics of A1, General Officer Commanding A1 Defence Force (GOCA1DF) and Chief of the A1 Civil Security Service (A1CSS). He became Minister for Propaganda directly after the August 2009 elections, and became Chief of the A1 Civil Security Service in October 2009 during the YouTube Crisis.
David Massarde was born in Wellington, New Zealand, spending much of his early childhood there. He later moved to Melbourne, Australia, developing an interest in media, politics and history. By joining A1, Massarde found an outlet for his creative talents and ideological motivations.
Massarde became a citizen of A1 during the August elections, and was installed as Minister for Propaganda after the A1 People's Party came to power. For his speedy production of propaganda material (including posters and leaflets) and his high level of activity within the government, he was granted the title of Lord of B29.
In October, Massarde was made Chief of the A1 Civil Security Service (formerly the A1 Federal Police) by decree of Chairman Gribbon. This was because an active chief was required to lead the investigation into the YouTube Crisis. This was following in January 2010 by his appointment to commander of the A1 Defence Force, General Officer Commanding A1DF, with the rank of Colonel.
Massarde is also responsible for graphics, seals and emblems used by the government and the People's Army.
