He is the only child of his parents, Prince Father Debajyoti Roy (b. 1974) and Princess Mother Krishna Roy (b. 1974). Born and brought up in a middle class joint family, he currently stays with his parents, his uncle and aunt. He was named Dhrubajyoti by his grandfather, and it means the light of the bright Pole star.

Republican Years

President Dhrubajyoti Roy being sworn-in as the President on 7 January 2019.

He was one of the three founders of the Children's Group and was elected to serve as its First President after the establishment and remained in the ceremonial position until 2009. He resigned as President to become the Prime Minister, which was vacant following the resignation of Arnisha Phatowali. On 1 January 2010, he was officially voted to be the Prime Minister and served incapacity for the next four years on the strong hold position. It was in 2014, that he decided to step down as the Prime Minister and eventually as the President, he was succeeded by Sarala Baishya on 21 May 2014 as the Prime Minister.

With Sarala Baishya's sudden resignation on 27 December 2014, he was asked to fill the position as Acting Prime Minister during the power vacuum and remained in position until Tanishkaa Patranabish's election as Prime Minister in 2015. He served as Minister of Education, and then as Minister of Culture under her. In December 2015, he defeated incumbent President Sarala Baishya to become the President and served until his own defeat in March 2016 Presidential Elections. He made an unexpected return to the office on 11 April 2016, after his party ushered a majority in the elections to the Parliament, and he re-elected to the office again in December the same year with 90% seats in the Parliament. He decided to step down as Prime Minister in April 2017, a day after completing one year as the Prime Minister.

Soon after his stepping down as the Prime Minister, he was unanimously declared elected as the President and remained until 25 December 2017. His tenure as the President, which was though a ceremonial position, was instrumental in forming a coalition government under Tanishkaa Patranabish's after the July 2017 hung parliament verdict. On 25 December 2017, he expressed his desire to return to party politics and was offered to become the Prime Minister by outgoing Prime Minister Tanishkaa Patranabish, and he eventually accepted that. Vice-President Anoushkaa Patranabish became the President, and he became the Prime Minister, and inducted Tanishkaa Patranabish as Deputy Prime Minister. He also formed the new political outfit, the Friends Societal Congress which in its debut elections won a majority in March 2018.

But soon after the elections in May, he did a constitutional coup, forcing the President to quit and declared himself the Supreme Leader. Tanishkaa Patranabish was made the President of the Council of Ministers. But his disputed self-rule was overturned by the Supreme Court, which declared it invalid and asked him to prove his majority in the Parliament. Soon, the Parliament declared him as the First Executive President and Anoushkaa Patranabish as the Vice-President. He won the elections held in November 2018 with 70% votes defeating his rival candidate Tanishkaa Patranabish, who was later appointed as the Prime Minister.

He was re-elected as the President in October 2019 and won the elections with 75% elections, defeating his rival candidate Tanishkaa Patranabish once again. But, it was not long since then, on 13 April 2020, he, in an address to the nation, declared that he would step down as the President and National Leader of the nation after a long illustrious rule. This caused a power vacuum in the nation until he named Tanishkaa Patranabish as his successor, who was elected on 03rd May 2020. The new President announced that he will serve as the Chairman of the Council of State with the full rank and entitlement of a Full Head of State.

Monarchical Years

In a meeting of the Council of State, it was proposed that the long republican rule, shall be replaced by a federal elective and rotational absolute monarchy and that the six royal heads of the provinces shall serve as the top policymakers. The Commonwealth of Friends Society shall be renamed as the “State of Vishwamitra”. Accordingly, the Council directed that the incumbent President Tanishkaa Patranabish shall be appointed as the first Rashtradhyaksh (Head of State) for the remainder of her term until 30 April 2020. By virtue of seniority, Dhrubajyoti Roy became next in line of succession and was appointed as the Rajpramukh of Purvanchal and eventually as the Upa Rashtradhyaksh. As Upa Rashtradhyaksh, he played an important role in strengthening the state’s foreign affairs by holding various developmental activities with the foreign allies.

On 29 July 2020, as Upa Rashtradhyaksh, Dhrubajyoti Roy became the Acting Rashtradhyaksh, due to the sudden abdication of then Rashtradhyaksh Tanishkaa Patranabish. Eventually, in a special meeting of the Conference of Rulers, he was elected to the next Rashtradhyaksh from 1 August 2020, and Tanishkaa Patranabish as the Sah-Rashtradhyaksh (the co-monarch). He was installed as the Rashtradhyaksh in a solemn ceremony on 23 August 2020.
