The deputy prime minister of Baustralia is the second highest ranking minister of the Crown and a member of the Baustralian Cabinet. The incumbent deputy prime minister is George Davis.
The deputy prime minister does not, unlike the Vice President of the United States or similar offices, assume the duties and responsibilities of the Prime Minister but rather deputizes at events or functions. The title is, unlike the United Kingdom, commonly in use. The position may also be used to give seniority to a cabinet member.
There have been eleven Deputy Prime Ministers of Baustralia, Sir Harrison Pickles under the first, second and third Timpson ministries, Emily Day under the first McGrath ministry, Lord John Timpson under the Sullivan ministries, and Oliver Doig and James Gardner under the Parker ministry.
The Deputy Prime Minister under Sir Charles Burgardt was Jack Morris, 1st Viscount of Englewood as leader of the Libertarian Party, which with the Liberal Party formed a coalition. Upon its breakup, all members joined the liberal party to keep them in power, and Lord Englewood was appointed Lord Speaker. No deputy prime minister was appointed throughout the rest of the term.
Brianna Broersma was the next holder of the post under the first Doig ministry, William Perks under the second Doig ministry, and Abrams Wiucki-Dunswed, 1st Duke of Wells under the second McGrath ministry. In the Duke of Wells' caretaker ministry, no deputy was appointed. When Doig formed his third ministry, he appointed Arthur Lacey-Scott-FitzLacia, now the Viscount Brookbank, and was succeeded by the Levinson ministry's George Davis.
