The Democratic Party of Istria is a center-right conservative-liberal party from Istria. It has 33 seats in the House of Deputies as part of the NSPEI-DP coalition.

It is the direct successor of the Conservative Party, which merged in June 2009 with the Nationalist Ecologist Party, absorbing the latter.[1] Prior to the merger, the party was known as the Conservative Party, which was one of the oldest political parties of the country, being founded in January 1937. The party is known for having governed between January 1936 and June 1980 as part of the Democratic Convention, in July 1981 as part of the Social Alliance, then between March and September 2000 as part of (and later alongside) the Great Congress of the Free Istria and then in coalition with some lesser parties from February to July 2009 and once again since September 2013.

Originally they have been the major and minor party in the Chamber of Judiciary of the Royal Parliamant and have been since then a very important party in the politics of the Modern and post modern Istria. The members of the party, after the fall of the kingdom in 1980 they have gotten in an underground movement of for freeing the country, and in 2000 they have succeeded. The initial democratic system, thru congressional electoral votes has brought to power a feared but good handed man that started a communist era in the Republic. His ascension to power and how he won a feir election to introduce communist regime in the region has been a controversy since then. There are documents that describe how he ascended to power and how he got it and actual studies that analys this tactics. The Democrats came back in 2009 and merged with the Nationalist Ecologist Party, forming the National-Democrat Ecologist Party(N-DEP). In 2013 at the general election they won seats in the parliament and got to work introduceing reforms in education, sanity, culture and agriculture.

History

Kingdom Era(1937-1980)

The Kingdom era made the Conservative party to gain many supporters for their social and economical skills, they made it equal for man and woman to vote, they adopted the first human rights act for the people of the kingdom that was abolished little by little after 1944 by Romanian Ceausescu Regime. They have also traded the non aggression pact with the Socialist Republic of Romania in 1944 when the Socialist regime in Romania has gained a fearless power. In 1980 after the Imperialists took over the Kingdom they wore put to stay if they participate in socialist revolutionary acts. They accepted so they would make a plan to take over and start a revolution and change the political movement. After 1989 the Imperialist Regime of Dristor has got worst and worst. They remained without support in the majority of the territories that they detained.
