It will be the second elections of the Delsh-Westlandian Federal Republic which are held every 6 months. Danny Clarke will be seeking re-election as President of the Federation after being elected in the July 2013 elections where he ran as an independent candidate against A.T. Phoenix, this election he will run as the leader of the Federal Party of New Dale, Westland and Caladonia, the largest party in the Federal Parliament.
The election was won by Caladonian Green Party candidate , winning 56% of the vote, beating incumbent President, Danny Clarke.[2]
Background
In the last federal election in July 2013, Danny Clarke won the election as an independent before later creating the Federal Party of New Dale, Westland and Caladonia and A.T. Phoenix and James Hunt were elected First Ministers of Westland and New Dale respectively. After Caladonia joined in early August 2013, ] was elected their First Minister.
Candidates
On January 3rd, 2014 the 3 candidates for the Presidential election were unveiled, these were Danny Clarke.[3][4]
James Mcgregor, Democratic Party
Relatively unknown on the federal political scene, is the founder of the right-wing Democratic Party and has been a member of the Caladonian Parliament since September 2013. By far the most right-wing of the presidential candidates, his radical position is unlikely to win him much success outside of Caladonia, however could be vital to the final result if he takes enough votes from in itself.
Danny Clarke, Federal Party
Incumbent president Danny Clarke, who hails from the Republic of New Dale, is running for re-election as the candidate of the centre-left Federal Party. A seasoned micronationalist who founded the Dale Empire in 2011 and has played a leading role in all of its successor sates since, he was instrumental in the founding of the Delsh-Westlandian Federal Republic in July of last year. In his 6-month tenure as President, he oversaw the admittance of Caladonia into the Federal Republic, and has pushed for the unification of the various cultures of the nation to form a single Delsh-Westlandian cultural background.
, Green Party
The third candidate running for President is current Caladonian First Minister and Green Party leader, . Founder of the Republic of Caladonia, he led his struggling nation to become the first non-founding member of the Federal Republic in August 2013. A socialist, who is viewed to be the most left-wing candidate at this election, he has driven Caladonia to be the republic with the highest level of internal activity, it being the first republic to assemble a regional legislature. With Caladonia having a higher population than both New Dale and Westland combined, local support may benefit his considerably more than for the other candidates.
Local Elections
As well as the presidential election taking place between January 25th and 26th, 2014, is the local elections to determine the First Ministers of each republic. This will take place the following weekend to allow failed presidential candidates to run for the position of First Minister.
Caladonia
The Dale-Westland Federal Elections, January 2014 will be Caladonia's first participation in a federal election of the Delsh-Westlandian Federal Republic having joined after the July 2013 elections, and as the largest republic through population (10), larger then New Dale's and Westland's populations combined (7), it is expected for Caladonia to be highly influential in the winner of the election.
