Culann Burke (born 27 March 2008, previously known under his Barnlander noble title Lord Burke) is an Irish micronationalist, musician and amateur actor who was the Acting President of Roscamistan from 19 March 2022 to 26 March 2022. He has also served as Vice President of Roscamistan twice, from 18 February 2021 to 18 May 2021 and again from 23 June 2021 to 18 November 2021. He has been serving as both First Secretary of State and Minister of Culture since 28 November 2021, and Director of Civil Defence since 30 October 2022.
He is the second among equals of the founders of Roscamistan, behind Thomas Jacobs, whom he founded Roscamistan with on 18 February 2021. He is also an admin on the Roscamistan discord server, and a prominent politician in the nation. Burke was also influential in the 2023 Roscami civil war and the 2023 Roscami coup d’etat
Early life
Burke was born in Galway City, in March 2008. Not much information is given until he met Thomas Jacobs in December 2020.
Micronational career
First Vice-Presidency
Burke entered micronationalism when he, with his friend Thomas Jacobs founded the Republic of Roscamistan. Burke was appointed Vice President by now President Jacobs, and in the early days served as the closest advisor to the President.
Post independence
Burke maintained a small role in Roscamistan, but did meet with Jacobs most days in early 2021. Burke served as Vice President until the 17thMayCoup, when he, along with Thomas Jacobs, were removed from their post as Vice-President and President respectively by James Irwin. He was succeeded in his role by Kayden Conboy, another friend of his. After being informed of this, Burke accepted that he was removed, and remained a close advisor to Thomas Jacobs.
Second Vice-Presidency
On 23 June 2021, Jacobs forced the transfer of the Presidency from James Irwin, becoming President, and reappointed Burke to serve as Vice President. Burke served as a core part of the second presidency of Thomas Jacobs, and from late June to mid-November, served as Vice President. After the rise of Adam Flannery after August 2021, Burke became less and less of an advisor to Jacobs, in favour of Flannery. On 18 November 2021, Burke resigned from the Vice Presidency for personal reasons unrelated to micronationalism. Flannery later was elected Vice President in a special election ten days later. Burke was made the First Secretary of State, and became second in line to the Presidency.
Modern career
On 19 March 2022, after the inauguration of President-elect Flannery failed to happen and was delayed, Burke was made Acting President by virtue of the First Secretariat of State, and was later forced out of office by Jan Kotoński, who became Provisional President. Burke remained the First Secretary of State, and a high ranking member of Government nationally.
Personal life
Burke is currently in his second year of secondary school. Burke is a fan of the roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons, and is learning to play electric guitar. He has Asperger’s syndrome, is a pacifist, and is described as a social liberal and a social democrat. Burke lives in outside of Roscam with his family and dog.
