Congress, officially Congress of Cristoria was the national legislature of the Republic of Cristoria and played a major role within the Cristorian government. Article One of the Constitution of Cristoria founded the Congress of Cristoria, thus bringing it into existence on 1 January 2023.
History
On 1 January 2023 after the writing of the Declaration of Independence[2], Christopher P. began drafting the Constitution of Cristoria. During his writing of the constitution, he included the establishment of a congress in his first article.[3]
Congress held its first round of elections on 20 January 2023, starting with the House of Representatives from the dates of 20 January 2023 to 22 January 2023. The second round of the elections for the Senate began on 22 January 2023 and on the date of 23 January 2023 for eight hours, the "intermission period"[4] began and shortly after the Senate elections resumed. On the date of 25 January 2023, the elections ended, marking the end of the First Congressional Elections.
Following the elections, the Congress of Cristoria would go on to be the clincher of some of the most infamous cyber military operations in a subcommuniry of micronations such as Operation: Blazing Glory and Operation: Blue Vanguard. The legislative body would also go on to the passings of some of the most crucial bills in the Republic of Cristoria as a whole, such as the State Symbols Act of 2023 or the Civil Rights Act of 2023.[5] [6]
In July 2023, the commonly talked about Second Congressional Elections began on 20 July 2023, starting with the House of Representatives. Peaceful, but passive-aggressive tensions rose between the Independent Cristorian Party and the Cristorian Monarchist Party during the first round of the elections, but slowly died down during the intermission period and faded away when the Senate elections began. On 25 July 2023, President Christopher P. announced the seats that the parties earned and concluded the Second Congressional Elections.
In January 2024, after the National Reconstructure Act of 2024[7] was passed, the Congress of Cristoria had a major reconstruction project wherein the House of Representatives was renamed House of Missiones, whilst the Senate was renamed House of Scribes.
On 19 January 2024, the Independent Cristorian Party and the Cristorian Monarchist Party molded together to form the Individualist Party of Cristoria, a party dedicated to Individualist Anarchism and inspired by the Commune of Cristoria. Together, the parties formed the most dominant party in the Cristorian Congress since the Independent Cristorian Party in January 2023.
On 24 January 2024, the Congress of Cristoria was formally dissolved.
Houses of Congress
Congress was composed of two constituting bodies, being founded by the Constitution of Cristoria. The two houses were the House of Missiones and the House of Scribes in accordance to Article One, Section One, of the Constitution of Cristoria. With the Senate being the upper-house, it was widely considered to be the most crucial house in the Cristorian government.
