The City of New Damascus is a Wehdah City located in Western Massachusetts. It was taken over by the armed forces of the Republic of Greenfield in early 2015 after protests.
Culture
New Damascus has a prominent Islamic and Arabic type of culture, with a large percent of the religious population being Muslim. Arabic culture didn't really leave once Frieden, the state that formerly claimed the land, was dissolved, and has been adopted in many parts of New Damascus culture.
History
New Damascus was originally the Friendenish city of Newton. After Frieden dissolved, the land was ceded to the United States. In 2014, Sorrenia clamed the land as the Montiburg township. It was renamed to New Damascus after a short period of time. In 2015, the Islamic citizens of the territory called for the Republic of Greenfield to occupy and annex the land. The Republic agreed, and occupied the land. Sorrenia still claims the land and do not recognize the legitimacy of the occupation, though they do not operate or control it.
Soon after the occupation, the Government of Greenfield and Sorrenia negotiated that the City would remain Greenfielder, and the Sorrenian Government would relinquish their claim.
