The Chief Mouser to Navārdia is a title belonging to a resident cat of the Phoklandian province of Navārdia. The position was inspired by the United Kingdom's counterpart, the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office, and was introduced during a period of provincial restructuring to serve as a unifying symbol among citizens.
The incumbent Chief Mouser to Navārdia is Thai, who was not democratically elected and serves the position provisionally. The next Election Day, and thus the next Chief Mouser election, will take place on October 1, 2020.
History
In October of 2019, the United Kingdom's Chief Mouser office was discovered by Casper von Navārdia and Eggs Benedict. A similar position was intended to be implemented in the government of the Grand Duchy of Navārdia, but this never occurred and the position was all but forgotten as Navārdia merged into Phoklandian Free State, and the new decade began.
In February 2020, an initiative to build on Navārdian culture and promote citizen activity was started, and among the first of the changes was the creation of the office of the Chief Mouser to Navārdia. One of Casper's cats, known as Thai, was selected as the provisional holder of office by random draw, until a formal election could occur.
