The Ministry of the Treasury of Essexia was a government department in the Commonwealth of Essexia, and a key part of the Cabinet of Essexia. It had the responsibility of overseeing the Treasury, which is the sum of donated and acquired currency belonging to the Parliament of Essexia, as well as managing financial and economical aspects of the nation. This included taxation, business affairs and debt. The department was headed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

The Ministry of the Treasury, and subsequently the Chancellor, was merged into the Ministry of the Interior by Imperial Decree XI, on the 13th January 2021. However, as the cabinet was never fully compliant with this legislation, Chancellors were still appointed until the 3rd May 2021.

The Chancellor's role was similar to that of the British Chancellor, however due to the lack of national income or spending, the Essexian counterpart had considerably less power.

List of Junior Departments

In order to better define the Treasury's role, and to aid the Ministry in it' roles, the Ministerial Reform Act established multiple Junior Ministries under the Treasury. These were:

• Department of Trade
• Department of Regulations

The Department of Trade was responsible for handling national and international trade, as well as the safety of those involved within both areas.

The Department of Regulations regulated and enforced the law upon trade, trade goods and trades people both nationally and internationally.

Neither department was ever staffed or had a Junior Minister appointed to them. As such, they were left defunct for the entirety of the Treasury's existence.
