Background

The Blazdonian Nationality law, originally enacted 5 April 2021, served as the foundation for determining Blazdonian citizenship and its associated rights and responsibilities. However, with advancements in technology and the increasing interconnectedness of societies, it became necessary to adapt the legislation to address the changing dynamics of citizenship.

Key Provisions

The Amendment to the Blazdonian Nationality law introduces three distinct categories of citizenship, namely:

1. Domestic Citizen: A Domestic Citizen refers to an individual who is a resident of Blazdonia and holds Blazdonian nationality. Domestic Citizens enjoy full citizenship rights, including political participation and access to public services.

2. Overseas Citizen: An Overseas Citizen refers to an individual who holds Blazdonian nationality but resides outside the territorial boundaries of Blazdonia. They retain their Blazdonian citizenship rights and are entitled to consular assistance and protection provided by Blazdonia's diplomatic missions abroad.

3. Digital Citizen (Cyber Citizen): A Digital Citizen, also known as a Cyber Citizen, refers to an individual who holds Blazdonian nationality and actively participates in Blazdonian society and governance through digital means, regardless of their physical location. They possess the same rights and responsibilities as Domestic and Overseas Citizens.

The amendment emphasizes that all citizens, irrespective of their citizenship category, are equal members of the Blazdonian nation, with their respective classifications serving as a means of identification rather than a basis for distinguishing their rights, obligations, or privileges.

Implementation and Enforcement

The Amendment to the Blazdonian Nationality law took effect immediately upon its enactment by the Monarch of Blazdonia. It is enforced by relevant government agencies and authorities throughout the Kingdom.

The government of Blazdonia is committed to upholding the equal rights and protection of all citizens and ensures non-discrimination and equal treatment in all matters related to citizenship, access to services, and participation in public life.
