The Battle of the Highlands was a battle in the Midlothian War that occurred on the afternoon of 23 January 2022. it resulted in Weimar's departure from the war, the reclamation of occupied Weg lands, and the allowed annexation of some Weg lands to Weimar. Kapresh operations were expunged from the Des Plaines Valley Sector area.
Battle
Prelude
Kapresh forces waited over an hour in the Weg city of Prarik for Weg and New German forces to show up. One Weg showed up at 13:00 CST. He was tormented by the Kapresh until Weg and New German forces showed up. The opposing forces split off from each other and the battle began when Kapresh/New Germans rushed towards Weg forces and opened fire.
Fighting
Wegmat repelled the initial wave and the Kapresh and New Germans split off, the Kapresh moved towards the Des Plaines River facing the Wegs head-on while the New Germans went for a more tactical approach and attempted to flank the Weg position. The Wegs moved back further into the thick woods. The flanking opponents were eliminated under rapid fire by the 2nd Infantry Regiment. A local farmer from Colorado Depot, Hilda who was fighting with the Wegs went north of their main position.
A New German troop approached the Wegs with his hands up claiming to get ammunition, the Wegs ordered him to surrender but he refused, he was disarmed by the Special Operations Unit. The New German ran and stole a bag of ammunition from the Wegs. The New German got a pistol from the Kapresh.
The local farmer likely was formally part of the former Rodentian SF during the Great Des Plaines Valley War. The local farmer flanked the kapresh from the north and eliminated multiple troops. The Unit that was contracted from Lupis Contracting Services was captured by the Kapresh and held inhumanly according to LCS. The local farmer returned to the Weg position to reload. Wegmat was attempting to take out Matthew Hughes who was armed with a bb gun. Matthew stopped fighting afterward reached the Wegs that had had already been shot possibly 6 times and refused to give up causing the possibility of an unsportsmanlike war to occur.
One of the few remaining Kapresh attempted to flank the Weg positions, both sides were behind the cover of brush and multiple trees making hits hard to score until two Kapresh approached the Wegs with their hands up. The Kapresh refused to follow orders and when the Weg Special Operations Unit attempted to disarm they were shot. An argument ensued until Jack Morris said to determine the battle by just shooting each other from less than ten feet. The Wegs quickly changed their guns from safety to full auto and sprayed the Kapresh where they were hit.
Aftermath
Wegmat proclaimed victory and retook Essef and in the city of Prarik, Cole Baird struck a deal with Vladimir Baruh. Weimar pulled out of the war in exchange for land surrounding Levare. Weg forces, the LCS unit, Vladimir Baruh, and the local farmer all went to Frank's Deli to celebrate the victory.
