Atyko Robijovych FCM (also spelt Robijovyč; Ukrainian: А́тико Робíйович), commonly known as simply Atyko, is a Canadian micronationalist-politician who served as the second President of Suverska from 2018 to 2021. A key figure in the Western Canada sector and a politician since Suverska’s independence in 2013, Robijovych is the current leader of the Libsoš Party.

Born and raised in Canada, Robijovych was one of the founders of Suverska in late 2013. In 2014, they became the leader of the Libsoš Party and have continued to hold that role since. Robijovych served as a member of the Suverian parliament during its entire existence and was a leading member of the Transitional Council.

Political career

Early career (2013–2018)

Robijovych was one of the founders of Suverska in late 2013. In 2014, they became the leader of Libsoš (then called the Suwerenny Party) and continue to hold that role. Throughout their leadership, Robijovych led the party to two consecutive parliamentary majority victories in 2014 and 2016. Following a worse result in 2018 (though the party still won a plurality of the seats), Robijovych led the party during its minority government period.

During its entire existence from 2013 to 2019, Robijovych served as a member of the Suverian parliament including as a local representative (for East Butte from 2014 to 2016 and Paskrai for 2016 to 2018) and as a holder of an overhang seat from 2018 to 2019. As a member of parliament, they advocated for environmental policy, expansionism, and social equality in Suverska. In 2014, Robijovych oversaw Suverska’s communications with various foreign nations, including Kevin Baugh of the Republic of Molossia.

Suverian presidency (2018–2021)

Following the end of John of Flosia’s time as President of Suverska, Robijovych successfully ran for president in September 2018, defeating Trentij of Meteora in the second round of the election. On October 1, they entered office with a Libsoš minority government in parliament, which was elected the past May and faced significant opposition from the Prairie Party and Canada Party.[1]

Challenge from these opposition parties contributed to the governments’s inertia during the following months and was reflected in the results of the 2019 national referendums, in which the nation voted in favour of government reforms and increased autonomy in Meteora. Within weeks, parliament was dissolved in favour of a temporary government. Robijovych was elected to this Transitional Council along with four other nonpartisan members who were to lead the country through a two-year transition period and draft a new constitution.[1]

As president and Transitional Council member during 2020, Robijovych was a key figure in Suverska’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its expanding foreign affairs. They served as liaison between Suverska and the Union of Leftist States, ultimately gaining membership in the organisation for Suverska and serving as Minister of Technology in the ULS. In July 2020, they were a founding contributor to the Micronational Organisation for Asexual Visibility. In addition, Robijovych expanded communications and relations with the Unified Royal States of Australis, the Central Tibetan Administration, and the Dominion of Vancouver Island, along with other nations.[1]

In accordance with the direction of the Transitional Council, the office of president was abolished exactly two years following the referendums, ending Robijovych’s presidency on May 3, 2021.[1]

Post-presidency (2021–present)

In April 2021, Robijovych announced their candidacy in the upcoming elections for the Federal Council of Suverska. They were successful in their campaign and have served as the member in charge of the Public Enterprise of Foreign Affairs since June 2021.

Personal life

Robijovych has lived in various parts of Suverska, and has noted that they “enjoy experiencing the diversity of ways of life available in [the] country.” Since Suverska’s founding, they have lived in East Butte, Agionoros from 2014 to 2017, Paskrai, Agionoros from 2017 to 2018, Veskrai, Agionoros from 2018 to 2021, and in Novchakho, Agionoros since September 2021.

Robijovych speaks English natively and French to an intermediate extent. They have also studied Ukrainian.
