The commune of Altair is formed due to an increase of Lichthalzen's citizens who resides in the nearby town of Semarang. Altair is located more than 82 kilometres to the north of Lichthalzen's capital, Aldebaran.
Etymology
The commune is named after the twelfth brightest star in the night sky of the same name, which is located in the constellation Aquila.
