Admiral (Hindi: एडमिरल), abbreviated as ADM was the highest rank achievable by serving officers of the Royal Vishwamitran Navy, the naval warfare forces of the Vishwamitran Armed Forces and the second highest rank in the entire paygrade structure which was officially created following the establishment of the armed forces in 2018. A four-star rank with NATO code OF-9, it was equivalent to a General in the Royal Vishwamitran Army or an Air Chief Marshal in the Royal Vishwamitran Air Force and ranked below an Admiral of the Fleet and above a Vice Admiral. An admiral's insignia consisted of a crossed sword and baton over four chakras topped by the Sovereign's crown. In addition to this, the double-breasted reefer jacket had four golden sleeve stripes consisting of a broad band with three narrower bands.
The second highest rank of Admiral was created on 13 May 2018 by then President Anoushkaa Patranabish on the eve of the constitutional coup of 14 May 2018 and bestowed the rank upon then Vice President Klarissa Sriraya in recognition of her extraordinary contributions and services to the nation and its military warfare. She remained the only admiral in the navy until the appointment of Tanishkaa Patranabish to the rank in April 2021.
The professional head of the Royal Vishwamitran Navy, the Chief of the Navy Staff was the only admiral with active service in the nation. Before the disestablishment of the position of the Chief of the Defence Staff, who served as the professional head of the Vishwamitran Armed Forces, the holder of the position if they belong from the naval service branch served as the only admiral with active service. The rank of admiral in the Royal Vishwamitran Navy is the highest conferrable paygrade rank to which honorary appointments are made.
Since the dissolution of the Royal Vishwamitran Navy in July 2022, the rank of admiral ceased to exist, and the existing admirals were appointed to the rank of generals in the Royal Vishwamitran Army.
