The 2021 Pinangese Senatorial election was held on 11–12 December 2021. People's Democracy obtained a majority with 42.55% of votes.
Election system
On December 2, 2021, the Senate approved a constitutional reform that abolished the direct democracy system model of the Senate, making the senate made up of 15 elected senators and the president, who has a non-voting seat. The Senate is elected according to D'Hondt proportional system, without a threshold. The parties can choose whether to present open or closed lists, only the PCF has presented an open list.
