The Zealandian Defence Force (Swedish:Zeelandiens Försvarsmakten, Zealandian:Zålandieni Krigimakt) is the defence force of the The Commonwealth of Zealandia.
The Zealandian Defence Force (ZDF), is one of the most well developed militarises in New South Wales, excluding the Australian Defence Force.
The ZDF is comprised of the Air Defences (SE:Flygvapnet), Coast Guard (SE:Kustbevakningen) and Territorial Ground Force (SE:Markstridskrafter) these services all contribute to the Zealandian Border Guard.

Command Structure

The King of Zealandia (currently Haakon of Zealandia) is the commander in chief of the ZDF, under him are the service commanders, with the Coast Guard Service Commander taking seniority followed by the commander of the Air Force then Territorial Ground Force, all other ranks are interchangeable.
The ZDF is notable for not having any enlisted ranks.

Roundels

The Zealandian Defence Force employs a number of roundels for use on land vehicles, aircraft and vessels as a means of identification.

  • Type 1:Is the main roundel used by the ZDF for identification on Aircraft, Land Vehicles and Vessels.
  • Type 2:Is used on Auxiliary Aircraft and Land Vehicles.
  • Type 2 (Low Visibility):Is used on aircraft where it would be inappropriate for the high visibility of the Type 1 roundel to be use.
  • Type 3:Is used on aircraft used to transport the commander in chief of the Zealandian Defence Force.
  • Fin Flash:The Fin Flash is used as an additional identity marker on some aircraft and is located on the tail below or above the serial number.

Disability Policy

The ZDF is one of the only defence forces in the world that does not discriminate against potential and current members based on disability.

History

The ZDF came into being during the Winter Revoultion as the majority of the Kingdom of Zealandia Defence Force (KOZDF) personnel defected to the republican side, including eventually their commander in chief Haakon Lindstrom.

MILRED Level

The ZDF, MILRED Level short for MILitary REaDiness Level (Swedish:MBN, Militär Beredskapsnivå)is an alert and readiness level used by the ZDF, and is set by the King or in their absence or the event of there being no King the Federal Council.
In MILRED's whole existence there has never been an occasion of MILRED ONE or TWO being activated.

Level Description Explanation
FIVE/FEM Normal Zealandia at peace: no threat detected. ZDF on low readiness alert.
FOUR/FYRA Observe Zealandia on security watch: low threat level. Ministry for State Security begins monitoring suspicious actions internally and externally.
THREE/TRE Warning ZDF on low warning: moderate threat detected. The ZDF is placed on a warning as "low" alerts move into "moderate" alerts, base security tightened.
TWO/TVÅ Alert ZDF on alert: high threat level. The ZDF begins activation of mobilisation plans. Parliament informed. War readiness plans are discussed by the Federal Council.
ONE/ETT Attack ZDF Mobilised: extreme threat level, possible breach of Zealandian Neutrality. The ZDF is placed on high alert and is mobilised. Borders are in lock-down, Federal Council is evacuated to a safe location.
